In an Enterprise environment, a lot of Network Users are used to the Microsoft Utility known as Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) which works on Port 3389. Well, Terminal Servicer too use the same protocol and port number as RDC.

But, on amazing thing about Terminal Server is the fact that, multiple Network users can establish Terminal Session to the Terminal Server. Why? Basically, there may be common applications that they are all using. So, Instead of logging on to the Domain Controller, it will be expedient to let them log on to The Terminal Server.

Warning
The Terminal Server should not be installed on a Computer that is serving as the Domain Controller, because of the potential of Vulnerability of virus, worms, etc.

The Installation

The Installation of Terminal Server should be well planned, especially as it relates application compatibility, as well as considering the types of files we are running on Terminal Server, whether they are legacy files (.bat,.exe,.ini, etc).

The Policies that relates to the logging on to Terminal Server are highly essential, thus we will use Group Policy Object to achieve this.

Session Directory
We use session directory to resolve the issue of accessing one file on a Terminal Server, especially in a case where there are multiples Terminal Server. This is the idea of mapping a User’s job to a session directory.

Remote Controlling Terminal Users
Wao! This is wonderful. As Network Administrator, you must understand the dynamics of remote controlling terminal users.

We’ll unravel in the most practical sense other topics like;
Terminal Server Configuration and Options.
Terminal Server Client Installation, etc.
Terminal Services Licensing
