LogistiQ Xpeditors, Lagos seeks to recruit a Transport Manager.

JOB SUMMARY

The role of the Transport Manager involves transportation, stock control, haulage and assisting the warehousing team to ensure structures are in place to monitor the flow of goods.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage diverse transport Operations, review alternate options and select most effective and cost efficient mode of transport;
  • Provide leadership; strong negotiating skills and influence others to reach consensus;
  • Complete in-depth analyses and formulate conclusions/recommendations on transport related issues
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the field of transport management and logistics, in order to produce the most cost-effective transport options for complex logistics situations
  • Coordinate the work of others, work under pressure of tight and conflicting deadlines and handle multiple concurrent projects/activities
  • Operating effectively across organisational boundaries
  • Manage and review third party transport contractors. Periodic checks on the state of trucks and drivers.
  • Manage a wide range of equipment, manage budgets and demonstrate via cost-benefit analysis the most cost-effective method of providing transport capability
  • Operate independently in austere environment for protracted periods and willing to transfer to other departments as required
  • Ensure GIT insurance is in place for all goods

QUALIFICATIONS:- BSc/HND in Transportation, Logistics Administration, Management or other related field. A combination of relevant academic qualifications and extensive experience in Transport & logistics operations may be accepted.- Member of a recognised professional transportation association is an advantage

REQUIREMENTS
- At least 3-4 years of progressively responsible experience in transport logistics operations management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiating skills and ability to influence others to reach consensus; excellent knowledge of institutional mandates, policies and guidelines pertaining to transport operations and related matters
- Communications –Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce detailed reports and presentations for a diverse customer base
- Knowledge of standard transport management and operations systems and developments in logistics and transport technology
- Managing – ability to manage, supervise, coach and develop a team
