Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls

I have been following this thread since September last year but today marks the first time I'm commenting. It is a pity I will be commenting on a very sad note based on the information I just got some few minutes ago from the person that assisted me in checking up my name when the list was out the other time.
What she told me actually confirmed some of what was insinuated on this thread at one point to the other. She said based on what an aunty of hers who works in HR said, before the eventual list consisting of the 595 pple that were called, there had been 3 other list prior to that with each of those generating serious issues among the top management staff.
I will be dropping the criteria she said was used in each of the 3 ealier list and the eventual 4th one with the 595 that were called in my subsequent post.
Each of my post from now henceforth will highlight the criteria per each list and at the end I will be given out my own personal experience on this recruitment.

Jobfront. I agree with you. I am only pointing some hurdles you need to overcome in this quest. Once they are overcome, eureka. The reason I said so is based on black man mentality. You hardly see a Nigerian Business outliving its founder for at least 3 generations, mention one. We only like family businesses , father -son businesses. Dangote is not yet dead and constitute a very key man risk. This was why London Stock exhange told him to water down his holdings before approaching them. NBL, Guiness , Cadbury, Nestle etc are not Nigerian companies. 2. OBJ in 2004 tried this model, with all his executive might and the calibre of all brought plus the millions of shares sold , what happened to transcorp? many pulled immediately OBJ left office. I am not discouraging anybody. I for a person, would prefer a 2/3 man project that is workable. We are very selfish, that is the truth. Developed countries show a lot of altruism

For sure if it does come out, not all will be offered employment, & those that didn't get he job must live on, they must succeed, they must seek for greatness whether with NNPC or not, so this is a great avenue for us all to unite for greatness & to beat this present unemployment & even surprise the govt. & employers that we Nigerian youths can survive with or without them. Remember partnership is the only Nigerians can overcome this present unemployment in the nation. If most one-man business we have in Nigeria today did pulled themselves together as one, they would have been waxing bigger than they are as one-man business, but instead tom will open a small welding shop, opens his own carpentry workshop, james opens a panel beating place, etc & at the end they cannot compete well in the field. we need to partner for greatness my fellow youths. lets be positive about this pls.

    THE FIRST LIST.
About 800 names made the list from those submitted by presidency, senate president, the speaker of HOR, top members in the national assembly, top personalities in the country and some top management staff of the corporation while the remaining 200 names were taken from those that attended the interview(i.e clearly on merit base without any favour or connection).
She said; the list generated a lot of fuss among the board members as some of them felt the list was being compromised. Thereby raising question on why merit could be relegated to the barest minimum thus demanding for a very higher percentage of people on merit, thus the end of that very list.

@Modsquad...remember, transcorp & the likes didn't have viable business & vision, they were mere politically-inspired venture. Plus ours if given a chance, will be youth-driven, and you know what youths can do when they unite as one? The problem with transcorp & the likes was management, but in this one I am proposing, it will pioneered by ambitious & purpose-driven youths, who are thirsty for success & fairness & not by corrupt-minded & selfish old men looking for a way to achieve their political fraud. I still believe strongly that this will succeed if & only if we give it a chance. We mustn't be too desperate about this NNPC job as if without it our lives are doomed, Noooooooooo. I don't want to repeat myself over & over, we need to forge ahead & let God decide the next step in NNPC recruitment even though I see an end to it already...because in Nigeria, we always believe things must work out for everyone even when we know & see the truth. Remember, when Argentina won Nigeria in USA 1994, Nigerians started carrying rumor that the match has been cancelled becos Maradona tested ve to drug after the match, but did it happened? We Nigerians have a way of believing things just to keep our hopes alive, but we must let go of this NNPC thing & let it be as it has been destined to be, for God alone knows the best, but then we cannot allow our lives to rot in idleness becos NNPC or any other co. didn't offer us employment. Let me tell you, our not being able to make it to the final list of NNPC employment doesn't necessarily mean we are not good or that those that made it are better than us, if you believe so, then I don't cos I know very well by God's grace that I am very good in all ways you can think of, but God knows why my name wasn't on that first list. so guys think out of the box & lets see what we can do....if we keep listening to people telling us this & that they heard from a staff who knew the GMD, who knew the minister's daughter who is a friend to president's auntie's uncle's friend...lets face our life...what next without NNPC

    THE SECOND LIST PRESENTED.
    - A larger percentage still came from the favoured list in the 1st list.
    - On the merit list:
    * A high number of people that made the list were people with degrees from foreign institutions.
    * A high number were people with degree from private universities within the country.
    * A lower number were people with degrees and certificates from the country public institutions.
On presentation to the board, some board members antagonised the list based on the higher number of favoured peope and the higher number of people with foreign degrees, thus questioning the rationale for that and arguing why foreign degree holders should be given so much edge over those with indiginous degrees and certificates.
She said with all those issues raised the board members rejected that very list.

    THE THIRD LIST PRESENTED.
This was the very list she said was approved based on a very higher degree of merit( 80 to 85 percentage). This list she said actually took care some of the objections raised on the two ealier post.
On the list, according to her, there are people who made the list through the presidency that do not even write the test or attend the interview at all in the EH cadre of which a colleague of OURS in my present office is a beneficiary.
This colleague of mine is from bayelsa and actually participated in the Neighbour to Neighbour group for the Jonathan presidential campaign in the last general election.

After she told me all these ealier this morning when I saw her in the office all I could do is to just offer a prayer for my dearest NATION to be given the LEADERS that will run the affairs of this country in the most honest way possible and pleasing to Almighty God.
I WEPT FOR MY COUNTRY, NIGERIA.
