I wonder all of a sudden some are beginning to have a cold feet. Don't you realize that there is also a possibility that if our presence is not made known to the MPR, we could also lose everything? Even if we make the publication and it pisses of MPR, at least, we can always find a way to manage the situation but, if it turns out that we are eventually pulled out of the picture, then there is no redemption. WE LOSE EVERYTHING! We shouldn't have embarked on our protest if we knew that we are not going to follow it up. Ha! I tire for some of us o!

If anyone knows anything about the recruitment and this month, please let is know.Else we really have nothing to loose if we go ahead with the publication. My own angle of argument is a very good reason why we haven't been given offer letters and nnpc has received theirs, even when Dpr started theirs.Yet no one is saying anything or knows jack!It doesn't give room for patience anymore i suppose

@ekyz, tnx 4 ur infor , but the house as you know has resolved to go ahead with the publication . The 1st publication will hit the public in 2 days time, while a host of other publications will follow, on thesame issue.Have you forgotten that during the budget defence we were told that fresh staff, who are in their employment waiting list, will be joining them in two weeks time, yet the hopefuls are still being hopeful till now. What else do you want to hear from MPR, before you advice the hopeful to embark on a public plea to MPR.

@all,ok letz go ahead wt d agreed publication. And I suggest again dat a pin-point approach b used(addressing d letter to Madam Minister is more precise dan to MPR). All motive are aim toward 1 gol wc is release of letters. Wish us d best!!

I saw a small typo error with the year 2001 instead of 2011

Open Letter To Minister Of Petroleum Resources

    Sun, 12/08/2012 - 11:19pm | BILYAMINU ABUBAKAR

The Department of Petroleum Resources(DPR) sometime in March 2010 advertised for various positions and conducted two different tests on 12th June and 4th Dec 2010 respectively through a recruitment agency, ERA Professional Services. Successful candidates were invited for final interviews at the Lagos resource centre, No.9 Anifowoshe Street, Off Kofo Abayomi between April and May 2011 while the list of selected candidates was approved in July 2011 by the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
The budget, as your respectable self may be aware, has since been approved for the department, but here we are still waiting for our deserved letters in the third quarter of the 2012 fiscal year.
You may recall the budget breakdown of the department given by yourself before the National Assembly Joint Committees on Gas and Petroleum Resources (Upstream and Downstream) budget defence on Thursday 2nd February 2012 where you and the DPR director informed the committee that the department would employ more staff in 2012. “We are expecting to employ 250 workers in another two weeks”, the DPR director said. You also mentioned that a “slight increase in DPR’s recurrent budget represents provisions for anticipated recruitment of new staff to improve the overall effectiveness of the department”.
Hon. Minister, we sat for the tests and were interviewed several months before the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) cadre that has finally received their letters three weeks ago through the intervention of your good office and will be resuming work in August this year, while our letters are still pending.
The successful conclusion of this process or otherwise will call to question the genuineness of Mr. President’s transformation agenda, which most of the DPR hopefuls have bought into.
We are therefore, appealing to the Minister and management of the DPR to lend a listening ear to our plea and respond by concluding this long-running recruitment process and release offer letters to successful candidates.
We are well aware of the challenges of your important office, its dynamism and the turbulence that has dogged your sincere and seminal efforts to uplift the oil and gas sector.
We humbly pledge our commitment to give our best to support your efforts to strengthen the sector, as we hope to be absorbed soon by the DPR, with your kind intervention.
—Abubakar sent in this piece on behalf of all 2001 DPR Hopefuls
