The African University of Science and Technology (AUST) is a private, pan-african, coeducational, research university located in Abuja, Nigeria. The mission of AUST is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the African continent in the 21st century.The basic objective of AUST is to educate the next generation of African scientists and technologists with the capacity to solve real African problems and provide leadership that can lead to the economic and social transformation of Africa. Eligibility:
The 1st year AUST courses are taught at the Advanced Undergraduate and Graduate Level. This means that for students to be able to follow and benefit from the courses, they should have adequate preparation in Mathematics and the Basic Engineering Sciences prior to starting this program. Requirements for admission are as follow: an honours B.Sc, degree in Mathematics, Computational Sciences, Engineering or Science from a recognized university with a minimum of Second Class Upper or a GPA of at least 3.5. Candidates from francophone countries should have a “Maitrise” degree mention B and be proficient in English. In addition, below are the specific perequisites for each program: PURE AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS Analysis / Advanced Calculus / Linear Algebra / Topology / ODE and Complex Analysis taken at undergraduate level. COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING In addition to good preparatory Mathematics courses, students are expected to have knowledge of a modern programming language (e.g. Java, C, C++, and Computer Operating Systems). THEORETICAL PHYSICS Mathematics knowledge at least equivalent to courses in Calculus, Advanced Calculus (Vector Analysis, Multivariable Calculus), Linear Algebra and Differential Equations. Students are also expected to have taken courses at an intermediate level in Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics and Quantum Mechanics. MATERIALS SCIENCE ENGINEERING AND PETROLEUM ENGINEERING Mathematics At least 4 semesters of Mathematics courses covering Calculus, Linear Algebra, Advanced Calculus (Vector Analysis and Multivariable Calculus) and Ordinary Differential Equations. Computation Knowledge of a (modern) programming language is expected. Engineering Science Mechanics (Solids and Engineering Mechanics), Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics (for Petroleum Students) and General Chemistry (for Material Science Students). Admission to AUST is based on academic performance and then the performance in the entrance examination. P
