About the Role

Summary of the Role: To efficiently and effectively utilize communication tools and media to raise awareness of our work and generate funding through donations, proposals, corporate sponsorship or grants for the Foundation.

Minimum Qualifications
• Strong Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 3 years relevant work experience.
• Fluent and accurate spoken and written English; Proficiency in Yoruba, Pidgin English, and one other indigenous language preferred
The candidate must also demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
• Strong written communication skills, keen attention - to detail, and eloquent speaking skills a must.
• Strong ability to use variety of communication media: written, audio/visual, presentations, web, social media etc.
• Competency with computers, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint or similar types of software; familiarity with MS Access, MS Publisher, CorelDraw or similar software is preferred
• Ability to plan and organize events

Detailed Responsibilities

Fundraising
• Plan and organize fundraising events.
• Project communications needs for events and coordinate vendors, supplies and materials and necessary for the event (i.e. breakfast meetings, annual fundraisers, etc.).
• Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to secure revenue for the Foundation.
• Identify donor opportunities.
• Develop grant proposals and write appeals where required.
• Suggest other innovative ideas for effective resource mobilization.
• Represent Freedom Foundation as requested.
• Grow and maintain the Foundation’s mailing list by coordinating donor data across buckets (individual, cooperate, institutional, in-kind).

Communications
• Understand the objectives and needs of the Foundation, and collaborate with the Executive Director to develop public relations strategies to address these needs.
• Support the Executive Director in cultivating and managing relationships with all funders, partners, supporters, volunteers and key stakeholders in the public, private and nonprofit sectors to achieve the objectives of the Foundation.
• Proactively identify and follow-up opportunities to promote the work of Freedom Foundation to selected target donor audiences through a range of channels for communications (this could include various media, events, networks, mailings and the foundation’s website).
• Respond to requests for information.
• Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, media houses and external communications’ partners.
• Prepare fundraising documents and other support materials, e.g. flyers, text messages, leaflets etc.
• Design and manage the social media strategy, traditional media, events photography and website content (along with support IT Staff)
• Create systems and schedules that can help organize communications, fundraising, IT and operations when it comes to events and shared responsibilities (i.e. input donor data into the database).
• Maintain up-to-date content about the foundation’s work on the website.
• Produce the annual report under the direction of the Executive Director
• Observe, obtain, receive, and process information from all relevant sources in order to further the goals of the Institute.

Remuneration: Commensurate with experience in NGO sector.
