Overview:
The American Institutes for Research's (AIR) International Development Program seeks to enhance the capacity of developing countries to improve their quality of life through education and social development. We have worked in collaboration with local partners in more than 80 countries over the past three decades. AIR is currently seeking candidates for the position of Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for an upcoming basic education initiative for northern Nigeria. The program plans to strengthen systems in order to provide quality basic education and increase access to education for orphans and vulnerable children in Northern Nigeria.
Responsibilities:
The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will be a member of the senior management team and provide the leadership for operational activities of the program. The DCOP will play an essential role managing and coordinating operations across target states, leading the collaborative development of program work plans, facilitating regular program reporting at the state and headquarters level, and ensuring that all contractual deadlines are met and targets achieved. This individual will facilitate development of and maintain systems for project operations, including personnel and administrative procedures. The DCOP will oversee the efforts of two state program managers to support cohesive program planning, monitoring, and execution, and sharing of best practices across states.

Qualifications:
* Master's degree or higher in education, management, public administration or relevant field and equivalent experience.
* Minimum of ten years experience in management, with five plus years experience in Nigeria or Africa.
* Proven skills in managing local staff and familiarity with USAID regulations and reporting requirements.
•Excellent communication skills required including fluency in English; additional language abilities in Hausa preferred.
