TECHNICAL GROUP MANAGER

ISO is the leading platform for the production of globally relevant, consensus-based International Standards with a collection of more than 18 100 International Standards covering a broad, multi-sectoral scope and contributing to the improvement of quality and safety, the facilitation of global trade, the dissemination of technology and good business practice and, more generally, to a sustainable development of the world economy.

We currently have an opening in ISO Central Secretariat (ISO/CS) for a

Technical Group Manager in the area of Health, data applications, services, management systems and energy. Duties will include:

Technical group management leading and motivating a team of Technical Programme Managers (TPMs), Technical Editors and Assistants; ensuring that training and development needs are addressed and that performance of team members is continually improved; assisting other Technical Group Managers; advising on emerging policy matters and taking appropriate actions with other ISO/Central Secretariat (ISO/CS) departments; addressing external or internal complaints.

Technical programme management managing and coordinating the work programmes of different technical committees; applying and communicating rules policies and Technical Management Board decisions related to standards development and production;
providing assistance, guidance and training (where necessary) on ISO and ISO/IEC procedures to committee secretaries, chairpersons and members; acting as the primary interface between technical committees and ISO/CS (including development of briefings and updates; developing new areas, including building a network of contacts and fostering increased participation of related organizations in existing and potential new ISO committee activities monitoring the market relevance and business context of the related international standards development efforts.

Production and publication managing the production and publication of standards in accordance with agreed annual targets; ensuring dialogue between external project editors and internal ISO Editors; contributing to continual improvement initiatives in the production process; troubleshooting difficult projects internally and externally.

YOUR PROFILE
University degree or equivalent, preferably in a technical subject management skills in the areas of 'Management By Objectives', leadership and teamwork; decision-making skills, good judgment; good interpersonal and communication skills, team player; experience in a standardization-related organization an asset.
