Oshiomhole: Democracy Has Come to Stay – Atiku

Former Vice-President , Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, yesterday, condemned all re-run elections in the country, describing them as worse than the 2007 elections.
He however said that with the victory of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole at the Court of Appeal, democracy has come to stay.
Alhaji Atiku made the observations when he paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in Benin as he enjoined him to do something about corruption and outright stealing of public funds.
“You have a lot of work on your hands because this issue of democracy, stealing of peoples’ money is no longer hidden anymore and nobody is saying anything about it. You must do something about it,” he said.
Atiku's visit came on a day Oshiomhole reaffirmed his commitment to the development Edo State, informing the top echelon of the Action Congress(AC) led by the former vice president who paid him a solidarity visit at the Government house in Benin that his primary allegiance is to the people and not the political parties that brought him to power.
Oshiomhole, in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Chris Nwachuku, said that his position was informed by the Supreme Court pronouncement on cases instituted by former Vice President Atiku which affirmed that loyalty should not be to those that wield power but to the Nigerian people.
Governor Oshiomhole described his victory as united and shared commitment by all to ensure that the truth of economic progress is reflected in the quality of life of the people.
He said he had the privilege of learning from Atiku’s humility when as vice-president, he was not afraid of loosing his job.
In the delegation were former Governors Boni Haruna and Lawal Keita of Adamawa and Kaduna States respectively, Alhaji Musa Gwadabe, Chief Tom Ikimi and AC chairmen in Delta and Edo States.
