Nigerians To Hold A 2.5km Charity Walk To Support Humanitarian Services In Japan

No one can take the place of government programs, nor can it single-handedly cure the ills and disparities of society. But each of us can make a difference in a small way, in our own sphere, and can find ways to help that will make our efforts worth the time and trouble we invest in them.

You might be thinking, "The little bit that I can do will never help much!" or "What in Nigeria can I do?" If you've ever spent ten minutes reading a book to a lonely child, you know that even that small amount of compassion and attention can make a world of difference. No one person can solve Nigeria and the world's problems, but what little you do can make your little corner of Nigeria — or one far away from yours a happier, healthier, safer place to live for those who need your help. Each of us can right a wrong, fill a plate, tell the driver to be patient, rescue a victim, deliver a meal, tend a public garden, mentor a child or whatever action inspires you. Just jump in and take action!

On Saturday, March 26, 2011, we will be showing and sharing how much we could do for the planet and the less privileged amongst us - The Earth Hour Charity Walk will kickstart at 8am, Mr Biggs, Gwarinpa, Abuja and will be halting at Jabi Gardens.

60+ children will be walking, the NTA, Radio Nigeria, NN24, Nigerian Red Cross, The Peace Corp of Nigeria, The Abuja Environmental Protection Board, NYSC members and other national and international organizations will be present, you can still be part of history - If you are in Abuja or can make it to Abuja, just register for the charity walk at http://www.visitgwarinpa.org/, and if you cannot make it, tell us what you'll be doing to make the world a better place at http://beyondthehour.org/

Let it be known to all Nigerians, that the Earth Hour Charity Walk will be holding a minute silence for victims of the Earthquake/Tsunami in Japan, and not only that, funds raised at the Walk will be used in helping humanitarian services in Japan.
