It baffles me that for over 32hrs not even a single soul has deemed it fit to
respond to a crucial issue like this!Well,I guess I've got to be more patient
b/4 getting your well constructed reactions.Until then,Cherio!
I think d house need 2 work on this:who knows, opinions gathered here
may go a long way in assisting those in power!Let's contribute our own
quota towards making "naija" better.Afterall, we are Honorable members
of parliament.I.e. the unemployed & underemployed assembly
members! So,lets agree on something & pass a bill!I ve no reservation
whatsoever that we would enjoy better opportunity if a lasting solution to
this perennual problem of ours is proferred!

Hmmmmmmm this question is a very tough one when i first opend it i wasnt sure what am going to contribute cos i was waiting to read from others....but now let me start by saying ......If I were President, I will tackle the Instability in the Fuel Supply and Pump Price, by setting up the following
(1) Short Term policies:
A) Revert to the Prices of Petroleum products before December 2006.
B) Fix the prices for a period of 6 months.
C) Re-instate the subsidy on petrol. Compensate by extra funds by the Govt.
D) Re-constitute the Petroleum Pricing Board - PPPRA, but with emphasis on their monitoring roles
E) Re-establish the distribution network. If possible utilize the Army to ensure smooth distribution, and attempt to eliminate hoarding of products to produce artificial scarcity.
F) Ask NNPC to review the list of Fuel products Importers.
G) Review this list and revert to the original importers plus a new generation importers. Apply the same rules for the consolidation of the companies, like the Banks.
H) NNPC to produce Reports and decisions for Way forward in the following areas:
1) Pipe Lines and Distribution Networks
2) Refineries Status
I) Put a hold on the Niger Delta issues. This will encourage optimum Crude production.
(2) Medium Term Policies
A) Decide on the Refineries. Viable Refineries to continue. Under Joint Venture Arrangements. Emphasis being, to reduce Government direct Spending. The Technical partner to provide expertise and budget. Indices of expected performance to be agreed. Failure to meet these resulting in forfeitures.
B) Non-viable Refineries to be sold out as-is.
C) Break down the composition of the NNPC. Separate the functions of the various section of NNPC.
D) De-regulate the importation of the Petroleum products.
E) License and encourage private Refineries. With a phased programme to annually erode the need to import products. Aim for self-sufficiency in Refining capabilities in the country.
F) Product prices to be monitored and agreed, between Industry, Government and Labour.
G) And like i said b4 Solve the Niger Delta issues.
(3) Long Term Policies
A) Sell of the Refineries to the performing JV partners.
B) Deregulate the processing of Fuel products.
C) Deregulate the importation of products, where the are defined and determined D) Shutdowns would necessitate the additional products
I hope i have made my points
