Ever wondered why is so hard to find a job in NIGERIA?
As a result of the ongoing global Economic meltdown, Ikechukwu had just been retrenched from a high paying job, and now he set out hoping to bounce back into the NIGERIAN job market.
He started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 5.00am. While coffee pot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaves with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).
He put on a dress shirt and his Giorgio Armani suit (MADE IN ITALY) IMPORTED FROM DUBAI, designer trouser (MADE IN SOUTH AFRICA) and Gucci shoes (MADE IN ITALY).
After cooking his breakfast on his new electric cooker (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his Calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. While he arrange his CV and credentials on his leather folder (MADE IN SPAIN).
After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) through his radio (MADE IN JAPAN) according to BBC (BROADCASTING FROM LONDON) time, he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY AND REFURBISHED IN BELGIUM) and continued his search for a good paying NIGERIAN JOB.
At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Ikechukwu decided to relax for a while. He sat on his leather couch (MADE IN CANADA) reading a best-seller novel (PUBLISHED IN USA).
After a while he wanted to refresh himself. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV ( MADE IN INDONESIA), to CNN (TRANSMITTED FROM AMERICA) and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in......................NIGERIA.......!
Food for thought.
1. LEARN TO PATRONISE MADE IN NIGERIA GOODS SO THAT WE CAN CREATE MORE NIGERIAN JOBS FOR OURSELVES.
MY FELLOW YOUNG NIGERIAN GRADUATES; LEARN TO USE YOUR ENERGY AND SKILLS TO CREATE JOBS FOR YOURSELF AND OTHERS, RATHER THAN TO DEPEND ON GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE COMPANIES TO OFFER YOU A JOB. THEY CAN’T PROVIDE ALL THE JOBS NEEDED FOR THOUNSANDS OF NIGERIAN GRADUATES.
WHY DID HE SAY SO? SOME OF US ARE DESTINED AND BORN WITH ENTREPRENUER SKILLS (SELF-EMPLOYED) WHILE SOME ARE ENDOWED/ BESTOWED WITH MANAGERIAL SKILLS (WAGE EMPLOYED). ALL OF US CANNOT WORK FOR SOMEBODY; SOME OF US ARE DESTINED TO BE SELF-EMPLOYED.

In as much as it is good to patronise made in Nigeria goods. But it is s known fact that goods that are produce hear in Nigeria are always far costlier than imported goods. And this is as a result of the fact that the cost of production of this goods are high. You should also know that it is not easy to be self employed in this country, although it is not impossible. Even establish multinational company are closing down or relocating to neigbouring country like Ghana, this as result of irregular power suply in the country. I remember a female friend of mine that decided to open a shop and be selling frozen food and some other things when she couldn't secure a paid job. Despite the fact that she had a 3.8KVA generator on standby, she still ran into an brickwall at the end of it she is back now in the labour market looking for jobs, and all the money she invested in that business went down the drain.
