chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
chams frustrates nigerian jobseekers despite the talents and gifts they know they have,
pls i would advice u guys to forget about chams except if u have a whole lot of time to waste, i passed through all their 7 different stages last year, they can't even pick more than 7 people and are disturbing thousands of graduates, they don't even pay well, their salary is less than 60,000 naira per month and upon all d stress the md will finally pick his /her candidate. i was among d last 30 shorlisted by d hr
if they invite u 4 an interview in d morning they will delay u till night like 9p.m
i met their md twice at the 7th stage and he was asking irrelevant questions like have u lied b4,stole b4, debate, list d names and titles of 36 governors, 1 day prime minister of cuba, discuss a topic etc
some pple who didn't even write d test joined us at d fourth stage of the interview!!!!!!!!!!!! imagine that
thank God, 2 weeks after i met their md , i got a job with a leading and well paying bank, thanks to naijahotjobs.com , most of d pple chams rejected are now in big companies like agip, mobil, banks, shell, chevron, kpmg price water coopers
chams is not even doing well now in d stockmarket
i m not discouraging u but i m informing u abt them
i think it is high time we start telling dis companies that the fact that one is looking for a job does not mean one is a beggar!!!
it is d most rigorous job interview process i have ever passed thru- 7 stressful stages!
i wish u all good luck in ur search 4 a more than 6 digits salary job!!!
d lord is ur strenght
God that did mine 4 me will surely do urs
one love

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
Hey ade, you have already discouraged people already with ur comments.
-
Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
I heard Chams is already calling people for test and imagine you (Ade) posting this comments at this stage, what does a jobless nigerian have to lose if he/she goes through 7 or 8 stages of interview and gets the job eventually. remember many are called but very few are chosen. Please always watch ur negative comments.
We all have brains, anyone who is not satisfy with Chams has the option of hopping out of the interview instead of u discouraging everyone who makes attempt to apply.
Remember no pain no gain.

it doesnt matter even if ade says whatever, it wont deter the eager ones from giving it a try. chams may have changed.

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
You should have post this comments when charms was on line asking me to apply, that way we would av know if to apply or not.not when they are callin for txt.

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
I was part of the exercise last year. I was even one of the two with highest score in their aptitude test.(26/30). In all essential points, Chams is a company who does believe in meritocracy but in pady pady stuff.
obviously, I am too hot to be left jobless. I am now GAINFULLY employed.
Anyway, I will still encourage you guys to give it a try. Why? You can cross from Chams to a good IT company. Experience has shown it is easier to cross from one job to another than getting the first offer.
I really wish you guys all the best.

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise

I filled their form online but I made a 2.2 so when I got to the select grade option, I didnt see 2.2 amongst the list of grades so I didnt want to cancel my application as it was about the last on the form to fill so I just put in 2.1 and now they have invited me for the computer based test on friday and I am seriously having doubts about going as d wrong grade may affect me. WHAT DO I DO?? SHOULD I JUST FORGET IT????. Pls help me with advices as I do not live in Lagos and would not want to waste my money and time, I have just today to decide.......... :( :-\

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
Kay, dont go. You see, this is Nigeria, if the people who met the requirement and did well in the test, attended almost all the stages of the interviews are still being thrown out, then you dont need to be told, unless you have somebody there that can at least answer for you, otherwise you are on your own oh.
Adegoke, why say that "what does a jobless Nigerian stands to loose if he attends 6/7 interviews" .
This is probably what these organisation conceal on their mind and then they begin to rubbish job seekers as if they will remain job seekers for life.
See, who pays for the cost of transportation to those interview venues for such number of times, what about the inconviniences, who accounts for them?
The fact remains that when you do too much selection, you end up selecting rubbish and then the pay is not even worth the stress.
This shouldnt be at all.
I have equally suffered something like this too with one of these companies, its very frustrating, i mean i was crying when i was finally thrown out because of the stress i went through. But now, i feel like going back to the company just to let them see me and what i am now.
Please employers, lets have a good mind to ourselves, we are brothers and sisters.
No man is a monopoly of knowledge.
God bless u

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
I think Ade should not be crucified bcos of his observation and opinion. We all know that this is Nigeria (where corruption is the oda of the day) and it is not new what Ade said. I dont imagine a company telling you you'll find more information in your email and not finding it knowing that people are coming all over the country.this shows the level of there seriousness. But notwithstanding, it doesnt stop anybody from trying. Ade just made us know that we should prepare for the wahala if we want to go thru- dts if we are not dethroned by the guys with longer legs. Anyway i wish u guys luck in the test.

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
am confused too o, they ask me to checked my inbox but i could't fied any thing there, pls house help me on this because is management trainee, and the test is computerbase. house help me what is it all about, i mean the format
-
Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
There is no need to attack him. House, everyone is matured to know what hw or she need, that was his own world view.
I too was invited but based in Benin, one has to think well b4 coming cos it mean that i have to stay in a hotel and other small expense up to N15 - 20,000 that is just me.
I think what he said is ok, he ended by saying" you still can try" summary!!!
online or invitation are met to be given it is not a MUST you should honor it.
House, let try and not be too harsh on people, what he said is helpful to people like me. Cos i have choices. That is what LIFE IS ALL ABOUT!!!
House relax if you want to go then go!!
Was invited for friday no mail yet still waiting but have choice!!!
One love

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
Kudos to you ADE, for being a "realist". you've giving the insight to what should be expexted of chams (a nigeria PLC coy ). If world doubt you, how will management of chams themselves defend the fault of failure of perfomance regarding thier committment to send mails to people...how?
Lets face the fact, if any coy choose to screen applicant through 7 rigorous stages (which most of them can't even pass thru if they are to participate) thier is high possibility that "long- leg syndrone" will impair the exercise.
for those living far away, THINK ONCE, THINK WISE.
Wish everyone wishing to participate all the best.

-
Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
Guyz :D
It takes so much to be truthful and realistic. I c no reason why Ade should be crucified. He had only made us c things about chams and I tell u,if u'r bent in doing a particular thing,it will take heaven to change ur mind.Y then should u all of a sudden change ur mind or get discouraged because of Ade's comments?
Go for what u thing is gud for u and leave dat which's vice versa, afterall,u'v got nothing to loose.
Stay blessed
1 LUV :o

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exercise
waaaaow! sooo much about chams! what shall we then do brethren? shall we continue in joblessness while chances abound? GOD FORBID?
If you were called, go in this thy might, and the Lord'll c u thru.

Re: chams recruitment is not worth it- a frustrating 7 stages recruitment exerci
Ade. :-*Nice one.u did well only that its a little discouraging.meanwhile it doesnt take anything for ppl living in lagos to try the test,u never know why these things happen so my advise is whoever was invited should go for the test :)
