@ poster, i quite agree with u dat somthin must b done abt d alarmin figure of unemployed graduate,howeva, i do not subscribe 2 d idea of avin union. Nobody wil b proud 2 cary d membership i.d card of such a union. What i tink shld b done is 2 get serious minded individual on d NANS exco both @ d state & national level 2 organize a a national congres involvin al stakeholders 2 deliberate on dis issue,afterall d graduatin student of last year ar d unemployed grad of 2day. Personaly, i'll advice a total review of d NYSC policy, rather than sendin grads. 2 villages where they ar xpose 2 dangers & claimin 2 b promotin national integration which i bliv can't b achiev via NYSC, grad shld b camped in a place 4 lyk 3 months & equiped wit entrepreneural skils which we didn't get in our universities. Also, d curiculum shld includ topics lyk comunicatn skils, integrity, financial inteligence, moral ethics e.t.c. After d 3 months, grad wil b given a lump sum say 200k wit which they ar xpected 2 start their own litu biz while lukin d white coller job, am sure alot of grad. wil in les dan 1 year build a viable biz dat wil nt only put food on their table bt also take care of their other needs considerin our inteligence despite our poor educatnal structure. The program culd b done in collabo wit BOI, CBN, NDE, SMSE, SMEDAN , RECRUITMENT FIRMS, & other agencies concerned wit d issue of youths both governmental & non-governmental. While on d camp, al yut corp members wil work on d state nysc mechanized farm where evry body wil use d technical skils they acquired in schl regardles of d discipline.
