We have gone beyond the stage of fearing for our jobs- a job we have been denied the pleasure of. You don't get the point, they can take the job for all we care but, they'll pay the supremem price if we play our cards right, some might be embroiled in so much scandal, they'll be skipping per second.

Sorry I have not been here for a while. My leave ended a while ago and I have had to concentrate.
I guess all diplomatic measures should be explored b4, during and after the publication/protest.
No one knows what is happening: maybe some pple are trying to take advantage of the process without the knowledge of the minister/GMD or maybe they are all in it together. We cannot just conclude without hearing from them. Let a meeting be scheduled with the minister. Some of us know where they live, we can go there and do a small protest during weekends so we are sure she and the GMD are in the picture.
In the meantime, let the publication/further protests proceed.

You don't even know the callibre of people you insult here. This thread and controversies. I quite support the last post though I dont think going to press or having a protest would change anything. NNPC might never call anyone of us that did that interview and they might, only God knows, but i do strongly feel letting the whole world know about the injustice they have done to the Nigerian youths isnt a bad idea. If it doesnt change anything for our set, it might set a precedence for the next batch of recruitment. If you are not in support of it then dont contribute financially to the course but dont think you are in anyway smarter than those that do because you are not... and about putting an end to this thread, that sounds more like a detractor talking.

NIGERIAN NATIONAL PETROLEUM CORPORATION AND DEPARTMENT OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES WITH MIRAGE EMPLOYMENT CAPABLE OF CREATING INCAPABLE CIVIL SERVICE


It is becoming a pattern for the Nigerian National Petroleum corporation and her sister corporation, the Department of Petroleum Resources to start up a nation wide recruitment that is dully published in the national dailies for qualified Nigerians in different fields of studies, and later abandom the process unattended. This unaccepted thread has elicitated so much condemination among the Nigeria populace as it poses a serious malfunctioning in the civil service system. Especially, when people making up the civil service are highly incompetent that may have come through the "back door". A highly competent civil service is a Crown to the government.

There is no doubt that, the NNPC has one of the best recruitment process in Nigeria owning to the standard applicants go through during recruitment process stages. But " The ends justifies the means". This best recruitment process will have no difference with a waste in the bin if after spending tax payers money to hire one of the best recruitment consultants through which qualified Nigerians for the job are selected, it then ends it with a pepertual silent as was the case of NNPC, 2008 nation wide recruitment.

In march, 2010 the Department of Petroleum Resources called on qualified Nigeria graduates (University and Polytechnics) for various positions in the establishment through the national dailies. After which qualified graduates applied and were invited for aptitude test across the nation. Those who made the aptitude test were subsequently invited for oral interview. Up till this moment, nothing has been heard from the DPR concerning the release of appointment letters to the successful candidates.

Also, in the last quarter of 2010, the hope of many unemployed Nigerians was heightened with the release of the recruitment campaign by th Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the NNPC in November. This was a period when political campaigns ware at the centre stage for 2011 elections. The job advert was made public with a large number of applications in four categories namely: Graduate Trainee, Trainee Operators, Experience Hire and Contractors. And applications were made till the advert expires December 31, 2010.

The corporation inconjunction with phillips consulting limited invited thousands of pre-qualified candidates to an aptitude/skills test which was held on Saturday, march 23, 2011 at various centres across the country. Many of these graduates took the risk with the hope of contributing their worth to the national development and took part in the aptitude test with no reimbusement whatsoever.

Subsequent to the release of the result for the aptitude test, candidates were invited for oral interview as usual at the NNPC towers, Abuja between July and August, 20011 to end the interviewing of over four thousands that made it to the interview. Till this moment, the NNPC and DPR had not published the names of the sucessful candidates according to the Federal Character commission act. Neither have they reimbursed these unemployed candidates which could have borrowed to make the interview at the period when the security situation was very prevalent.

The Nigerian Unemployment online Movement reminds his execellency, president Jonathan for his promise to fully implement the job creation committee's recommendations. According to the president at the first ever presidential summit on job creation, he said his government will seize the opportunities that abound in the agricultural and downstream petroleum sectors of the economy to engage the country's youths productively so they don't become prey for mischievous elements.

In conclusion, we call on all relevant bodies, agencies and government; the National Assembly, the Federal Characters Commission, NNPC and DPR board , National Human Rights Commission and the presidency to inquiry into this urgly pattern being set by the NNPC and DPR in this recruitment saga, to urgently come to the aid of unemployed Nigerian youths in the view to resolving the delay experienced so

who are we addressing the letter to? we should be able to ask some questions in the letter. If budgetary allocations was made for the intended new intake through the conclusion of the then 2008 recruitment how come they were not called? what happened to the money budgeted for that purpose? where they substituted by people who never sat for the test? all these and many more are begging for answers. They want to deploy the same tactics they used in killing the 2008 recruitment to the 2010 recruitment.

we have to reference the GMD'S statements after the results was released for the aptitude test. it is still there in one of nhj front pages. we also need to reference the defence on high personnel cost by the dpr and nnpc before the budget defence committee set by the NASS. we also need to point out that the NNPC last employed publicly in 2007. The NNPC been a Govt owned company should not be engaged in backdoor recruitments, because the FCC act binds it. They cannot prove that they have not employed.

we are demanding a probe in the HR of the NNPC. this will reveal all those they employed(staffs and not casuals) through the backdoor from 2008 to date.

As nigerians, we should involve the labour unions(NLC and any other relevant bodies). We should all be ready for a strong case, we demand equality and fair play and the NNPC and the DPR have not shown that hence our putting up the publication. The NNPC does not belong to the MPR, GMD etc. It belongs to all Nigerians
