ADMINISTRATIVE INSTRUCTION/GUIDELINES ON THE CONDUCT OF THE PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST AND EXAMINATION FOR THE 2010 RECRUITMENT EXERCISE

The sale of the recruitment forms was concluded on the 22nd of October, 2010.

2 The second stage of the entire process will commence from the 8th of November, 2010 in all the 36 state capitals and FCT Abuja. To this effect, the following guidelines should be strictly adhered to.

3. The physical fitness exercise and written examination are scheduled as follows:-

1. 7th November, 2010 - Arrival of RSHQ Monitors to their various centres
2. 8th-12th November, 2010 Cadre – by- Cadre running(for physical fitness test):
3. RMAs = 8 - 9th November, 2010
4. SRMs = 10 – 11th November, 2010
5. Officers = 12th November, 2010
6. Written exam = 13th November, 2010

Physical fitness test (PFT)

i. Candidates should report at the venue of the physical fitness exercise in their white T-shirts and shorts, a pair of while canvas shoes and white socks.
ii. Sector Commanders are to ensure that all hired Ambulances are fully equipped with first Aid materials with appropriate personnel to cope with emergencies should the need arise.

iii. The ZCOs, S/Cs should ensure that venues for the physical fitness exercise as well for the written examinations are appropriate and well secured for purpose of crowd control and security of officials, candidates and materials.

iv. The Running should commence from outside, 3km to the enclosed venue. Male candidates are to finish the 3km race in 12minutes while the female candidates are to finish the same 3km race in 15minutes.

v. Because of differences in timing for male and female candidates, male candidates should be batched to run separately from the female candidates. The batches may be between 50 and 100 candidates at a time.

vi. Coordinators are to ensure that this exercise is conducted cadre – by- cadre as scheduled. On no account should 2 cadres be called to the venue the same day. This is to ensure effective crowd control and safety.

vii. Security Operatives are to be strategically deployed to ensure that disqualified candidates do not disrupt the conduct of the exercise or infiltrate the batches while they are running.

viii. RSHQ Monitors on arrival should hold consultation with Zonal Coordinators and LOCs to make clear the rule of engagement; review what arrangement is on ground and reiterate what is expected of officials concerned.

xi. RSHQ monitors are to collect the (PFT) tags from AHR Department before proceeding to their respective centres.



b. Written Examination

i. The written examination takes place on 13th of November 2010 for all categories of applicants. Exam starts 1100hrs nationwide. All candidates must be seated by 1000hrs.

ii. Candidates are to come into the exam hall with their HB Pencils and eraser only. Calculators and handsets (GSM) MUST NOT be brought into the hall. Any candidates caught with any of these shall be disqualified immediately and matched out by Security Operatives.

iii. RSHQ monitors and the Sector LOCs must check impersonation and guard against all forms of exam malpractice as defaulting candidates should be penalized accordingly.

iv. Sector Commander should appoint adequate number of invigilators for the written exam.

v. On no account should invigilators render undue assistance to any candidate. Any staff not duly appointed as invigilator should not be found in or near the exam hall as management will not condone any form of exam malpractice.

vi. At the end of the exam, RSHQ monitors must collate the answer scripts and submit same to AHR Department, not later than 1700hrs on Monday, 15th November, 2010.


4. Sector Commanders are to give wide publicity to the physical fitness test and written examination in their local press and post same on their notice boards.

5. All hands must be on deck to ensure a successful recruitment exercise.
