Sorry boss, I have been away from internet due to moving residence, thanks for ur patience.
THe formular sheet was just formular, not complete formulas but just the necessary and adequate to attempt as many as d time permits. There is no conversion factor, not even one!
all d best guys, all who sent in PMs please bear with me, I will ans y'all

Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
Pls don't mind the pidgin English(as a Warri guy) . Abeg, wetin person wey no study Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering go read for the skill test? If he carry Theraja to read, in no go enter,in carry other textbooks,in dey enter small small. Abeg, make una help am with any Instrumentation & Control keypoint book(like those ones wey we use for WAEC). Make man pikin head no scatter cos of Job. I dey laugh cos wetin man pikin go do. LoL.

Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
For the FE Electrical folks, here's a site where u can work through some objectives questions. I hear the main test ain't MC questions but at least this should help brush up. Cheers and all the best on Thursday.

Haba, chevron dis test was supposed to be a skill test & not a kill dem test. Afta a rather large turnout 99.9% are dazed @ this tin called skill test. Cut off should b very low or else they would kip their job.

Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
Omo, see how Chevron dribble boys. Well, its all good.
-
Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
Infact,we over prepared for the skill test hoping to get very hard challeging questions but they gave just basic tricky questions. Thank God for everything.

Triple C ... Amen oo amen and amen thanks. I didnt expect the fluid mechanics part.. But i did wat i could n left d rest 4 God.. The Economics part 2 mehn.. Den some safety manual studd 4 process ppl mehn.. God dey but for subsequent skill tests tho.. I got an FE manual n 1001 solved eng calc book dat cud help.

Mega thanks BJ...please confirm it was 8 compulsory questions, 6 General Engrg questions, and 2 discipline questions or how exactly was it...and for how long as per time? Was chatting with a friend who wrote today but he needed to rest after a hard days job I guess.
I guess the element of surprise was d biggest impact on this test, not really knowing the nature or where it was coming from
please your response is highly appreciated

A guy who wrote for Electrical indicated that they were six (6) general engineering questions meant for every damn person to answer. Then two (2) more questions, according to him (Nos 19 and 20) for Electrical and Instrumentation. He maintained that there were questions on economics, volume calculations (involving unit conversions from inches to feet to meters), physics and then typical electrical question in the position specific part without giving formula (thereby giving an edge to those who studied electrical engineering).
I have confirmed this, and am posting it now that everyone has finished writing, because I also heard they were advised not to disclose the nature of questions as it would give others yet to write some advantage over them (and of course tell the general public what Chevron questions look like).

Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
I heard some electrical guys re yet to write, so pls be wise not to put those that have written at an undue disadvantage.
Anyways, @Triple C, the test turned out to be an exam, at least, for Mech engrn guys! SMH!
Good luck guys...

Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
@ all
I think a few people here and on the other thread have said it all. I'd just try to shed some light as it affected me participating in the skilltest for the Chemical engineering position. The questions 1-6 were compulsory, psycadellic and exactly as others have said.
The chemical specialty exams for graduates was 11 and 12. The ones for experienced was just next to it and like most people have already said it was much easier than the graduate one. The graduate section had a question on fluid flow where bernoullis equation was to be employed. Here we were to draw a simple diagram of the process, label it and then answer about 6 questions under it. The questions were based on the velocities of the pumps inlet and outlet orifices, Reynolds no, pressure drop etc (I believe mech/subsea guys did the same first question). The major gbege there was the useless conversions from bbl/d to cu.ft/sec for the flowrate and the conversion factors they attached to some of the formulas they provided. for e.g, the reynolds number equation had a 123. something multiplied to the (density, ave velocity.../dynamic viscosity). The dynamic viscosity here was in centipoise so one had to convert it to lbf-s/sq.ft. The actual questions asked here posed no serious challenges save the numerous conversions one had to endure sha. But by God's grace my scientific calculator came in handy.
As for the second question, I just dey vex as I see am. They asked something on the 3 components for a safety analysis as represented in the API 14C material. I thought this question was better suited for the experienced people that should have been grounded well in this area. Instead they gave it to us and it was worth 9 marks! The B aspect of it had another irritating question on the sizing of an orifice using one Qh=Ftf*Fp*sqr(Hw.......G somehwhere etc....) one nonsense equation like that sha. I still dont have a clue as to what the G meant in that equation. But Gods grace is sufficient. This question was worth 11marks!
I peeped at the process instrumentation question and i felt i would have faired better answering their first question (speciality) which was based on ISA symbology things like that sha. I read it by chance. lol
I have been kabashing since i wrote that exam yesterday oh especially as the NB just sent me a regret mail sometime ago. hahaha! My faith is the victory that has overcome the world-Dragnet, Workforce etc included.

Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
I guess there was some Typo, actually the G should be S.G meaning specific gravity..

That was my suspicion too bro, but to play safe i stated it there- "since S.G in the equation is = 0.8". but what difference does it make? shey they said they just want to see the steps?
All those electroplating a 12-inch pipe with wall thickness 0.blabla inch and Internal diameter 11.38inch, length of 40 miles etc. Those questions were just annoying. I understand that they felt it was better to make the exam more difficult than anticipated so that they can weed out as much people as possible but they couldve atleast stuck to their "heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics and so on".
I'm hopeful sha. I always am.

Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
Pardon me asking, i dont seem to believe that any civil engineer was called for the skill test, all i hear here is electrical and mechanical engineers been called. Pls can anyone in the ask confirm my doubts, because i took the graduate test for the position of a civil engineer and till now ve no info on skill test.
-
Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
Civil Engrs were called. Skill tests for facilities Engr are over
-
Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
They called Civil Engineers cos I saw some of them. At least 700 to 800 people (chemical/process, mechanical/subsea, instrumentation, electrical, civil etc.) wrote the test . We thank God for everything. Cheers

Re: Chevron Nigeria Ltd: Grads & Experienced
Chevvy don do me strong thing. I need some time 2 get over it :D
-
@Akan A1,hw strong is a strong thing? U're not alone in d mata.D test was a huge falling of hand 4 majority despite heavy preparatn. I hav no idea why they hav 2 make guys look stupid but hope workforce did u well?
-
Really made guys look stupid I tell you. All the preparations & book worming in the world would not have fully prepared 1 4 that test. The Electrical/Instr. & Control Graduate section favoured Electrical grads more than those that read Electronics or Instrumentation in school. Anyway sha na only God know those wey go eventually make am.
As 4 Workforce NBL I was sent a congratulatory msg that I've proceeded to stage 2. Thats some encouraging news anyway but I just pray they are not going to call guys out just to make us look stupid. lol :D
