Responsibilities

  • Estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers
  • Determining quality control standards
  • Overseeing production processes
  • Re-negotiating timescales or schedules as necessary
  • Organizing the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
  • Liaison with buyers, marketing and sales staff
  • Supervising the work of staff.





Qualifications and Requirements

Job Roles
Staff Management
The bakery department manager must determine the staffing needs of the bakery area and hire qualified individuals to work in the department. In addition, the manager provides necessary employee training on store policies and procedures, develops weekly work schedules, and supervises employee work output. Bakery managers also work to create team environments by handling employee issues and modeling appropriate behavior and performance.


Product Management
Bakery department managers supervise the production of bakery items, generally using the recipes and procedures established at the corporate level. In some cases, bakery managers work to develop new product offerings based on customer demands. The manager oversees the purchasing of food supplies and might design product displays for the bakery department.
