Description

Our client, based in Lagos, are looking for a Finance Manager that will be responsible for reporting the performance of specific projects and supplying project teams with financial information and cost analysis. The FM will head up the Finance Department which includes one Accounting Assistant. Working closely with the project manager, you will be part of a strong Finance team and get the chance to fully demonstrate your financial knowledge.

Responsibilities

•Overall responsibility for local finance and accounting.
•Monthly billing of customers including internal and third party recharges.
•Management of Net working capital and the RBS banking system.
•Monthly preparation of Financial Reporting and Management Reporting.
•Project cost control and analysis for the Projects/Asset team and the offshore team.
•Preparation of Rolling Forecast on a quarterly basis.
•Driving cost awareness throughout the project team and providing feedback on financial performance to project personnel or actual spent vs target at monthly meetings.
•Providing in-depth analysis of cost and driving cost reduction projects.
•Review of VAT returns and monitoring of foreign VAT to be reclaimed annually.
•Liaising with Lagos and Abuja teams providing analysis of reported numbers to allow statutory tax return to be completed.
•Ensure a sound control environment including completion and monitoring of quarterly internal control checklist.
•Preparation and management of statutory UK reporting including managing the external auditors.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be self-confident with drive, the ability to prioritise and strong communication skills. You will need to be business focused as the Finance Manager works within the operations team. They should also have:

•At least 7-10 years’ experience in the Finance and Accounting area combined with relevant education.
•High integrity and personal credibility.
•Well organised, focused on routines, very strong commitment to meeting deadlines and flexibility with regards to working time is an absolute requirement.
•Team player with strong relationship building skills and ability to engage your team through proven leadership skills.
•A good understanding of local business practice.
•The right candidate must be an advanced level Excel user and quickly be able to acquire solid skills in corporate and local IT applications.
