Principal Duties and Responsibilities: | - Receive and assign livestock to appropriate area.
- Farm facility manager; manages and maintains facilities, equipment, stock level as well as recommending facility and equipment repairs and informing the COO of same.
- Supervises farm operations in compliance with goals and policy of Errand Foods Farm. This include maintaining animal welfare, slaughtering and processing of meat ,storage and distribution of meat and meat products and verification of delivery orders.
- Acts as the Procurement Officer in the ordering for farm equipment, stock and supplies as approved by the COO and CEO.
- Conducts tours of facilities and assists visitors to the farm
- Maintains a daily farm record of all farming activities such as number of live birth, mortality, culled animals, received animals and quarantined animals.
- Observe animals to detect signs of illness and injury, treats minor injuries and ailments, and reports to the Veterinarian Officer.
- Assist the Veterinarian Officer in monitoring animals’ health and welfare and reports all issues accordingly.
- Participate in physical and manual activities, such as feeding livestock, cleaning of the environment.
- Maintain an inventory of all the various types and breeds of livestock including files and records from birth or acquisition to point of sale.
- Promote hygienic environment for the animals particularly in line with recommendations from the Veterinarian Doctor.
- Ensure the farm activities comply with health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards including all other relevant government regulations.
- Maintain and monitor the quality of yield, whether livestock or butchered for delivery.
- Ensure that products are ready for delivery to retail outlets and direct customers.
- Monitor and document all yields and land use to meet funding requirements;
- Ensure effective planning of finances and production to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain cost of operation; preparing up to date records of financial transactions on the farm and production yield.
- Arrange with retail manager on sales of animals and products.
- Supports sales and indirect marketing of farm produce by Communicating with the Retail Manager and Sales department to ensure all orders arrive at the customer's location fresh and on time.
- Prepare agreed activity and developments reports on a timely basis, for the attention of the Veterinarian Doctor and Chief Operations Officer.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Veterinarian Doctor and Chief Operations Officer.
