Can you install an Operating System on Blind Computers (computer without an OS) via network, without using disk media? If you can’t t hen you are about to learn that.

There are many ways of installing and deploying Windows Operating Systems, especially in large networks. Most of these methods remain unchanged. However, new deployment technologies have been introduced, which demands the use of Images, often referred to as WIM Files. As Administrator, you will face this enormous task of using the latest technology by Microsoft known as Windows Deployment Infrastructure.

What are WIM Files?
Windows Image Format (WIM) files are basically disk images in WIM format. Thus, what you can do with disks, you can also do with Images. WMI files gives snapshots of disk data. The WIM file of Window Server 2008 is located in the install.wim path of the Server DVD.

What you will learn in Class
Preparing for Windows Deployment Service (WDS)
Installing WDS role
Deploying Servers using WDS
Automating Installation with Answer Files
Creating Answer Files using Windows Automated Installation Kits (WAIK)
Adding Answer Files to WDS

The first two roles (AD and DNS) had been installed already on this computer, which host my forest root domain (if you don’t understand this, I will explain in class).
