GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• As GIS Analyst with Geographic Integrated Services Ltd, you will be responsible for managing, inputting, retrieving, and producing geographical data. Under minimum supervision this position maintains, coordinates, and operates all GIS obligations for GIS Ltd Clients. This position must be capable of producing accurate, customized, visually appealing maps and reports, creating and editing spatial data, and maintaining and updating the integrity of our spatial data. You will be responsible for sourcing for GIS-related projects for public, private and non-governmental organizations
• Work is performed under general supervision of the GIS Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
• Capable of independently initiating, organizing, and facilitating project specifics between GIS professionals and non-GIS project managers and clients to design and effectively employ GIS on projects.
• Ability to provide quality training for non-GIS project managers, trainees, SIWES/IT candidates, coordinate application integration efforts, and work collaboratively with other departments to further the GIS program initiative.
• Ability to define, translates, and integrates project and client requirements into spatial requirements.
• Assist in preparing quality assurance plans for GIS tasks and oversees their implementation within the department.
• Coordinate the work of other professionals and ensure successful completion of complex GIS analysis projects.
• Provides technical and professional advice; makes presentations to clients, GIS Manager, and general public.
• Conducts analysis using GIS data for special projects relating to urban and regional planning, facility management, social and physical infrastructures.
• Conduct GIS needs assessments for departmental and enterprise GIS implementation.
• Collects field data by utilizing GPS equipment and software for geodatabase development and production of “as built” or existing physical situation maps

ESSNETIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Considerable knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles and practices associated with the design, development, and support of GIS applications is required.
• Must possess a variety of intermediate GIS skills including support, maintenance, management, and quality assurance of geospatial databases.
• Must be knowledgeable of current literature and recent developments in the field of GIS.
• Must be able to analyze and to systematically compile technical and statistical information into technical reports, maps, and other related materials and be able to present that information clearly and concisely.
• Must have general knowledge of principles and practices of town planning, and must have the abilities to interpret various rules and town planning regulations.
• Knowledge and understanding of basic GIS tools and tool sets.
• A strong understanding of coordinate systems and map projections.
• Experience working with Autodesk (AutoCAD) data with ESRI software.
• Ability to recognize and interpret inconsistencies within data sets.
• Experience importing and exporting GIS data from a variety of outside sources.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to prepare reports using Microsoft Office Suite.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• HND in Urban and Regional Planning, Surveying and Geoinformatics with 5 years cognate experience
• Bachelor Degree in Geography, Urban and Regional Planning, Surveying and Geoinformatics, and related fields with 3 years pertinent experience
• Master Degree in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, Cartography, Surveying and Geoinformatics, and other related fields with 2 years post-qualification experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid, unexpired driver’s license
