Institute of Technology & Management (ITM) has been established by the Cross River State Government (CRSG) of Nigeria in partnership with Highbury College Portsmouth, UK as part of a unique, transformational state wide Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Ecosystem project. CRSG has appointed Highbury to manage ITM to world-class standards.

Job Title: Finance Officer

Job Location: Cross River State, Nigeria

The Finance Officer is responsible for providing general financial support and advice to enable the ITM to meet its broad business objectives. Team working and communications within an overall approach that values people will be of key importance.

Main Duties:

  • Processing of student invoices, credit notes and amendments from records produced by Information Services, departments and invoices.
  • Dealing with queries relating to invoicing and debt.
  • Recommendation of debts to be referred to Debt collection agency.
  • Input and checking of data on sales ledger and student records system.
  • Timely raising of invoices and credit notes refunds banking cheques from Sponsors.
  • Debt monitoring / recovery of debt and assist with development of invoicing and debt collection procedures.
  • Purchase Order review and booking goods inwards.
  • Order generic items forthe ITM as a whole.
  • Maintain Barcode Register for assets/inventory items.
  • Maintain purchasing system.
  • Procurement.
  • To assist in the procurement process to ensure ITM savings are maximised where possible.
  • To understand and be able to use the current payroll system, electronic data transfer system and the bacs payment system.
  • Completion of the payroll, production and submission of the BACS for payment.
  • Checking and input of all variations, including part-time claims, checking expenses claims part-time lecturers, overtime and sickness. Expenditure code ciecks must be done where appropriate.


Essential Criteria

  • Good standard of education including GCSE in Maths/English (Grades A* to C).
  • Evidence of commitment to self-development.
  • Experience of working within a similar role within Finance.
  • Experience of working with Payroll/ Finance Systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
