We are a Pollution Management Limited and a private Nigerian company, licensed to operate port reception facilities for the collection, storage and processing of ship generated waste on behalf of the Nigerian Ports Authority on a BOT (build-operate-transfer) contract.



Job Summary:
The role is primarily to help ensure reliable and efficient operation of the company’s IT infrastructure


Reports to: Finance and Admin Manager




Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and oversee the operation of the Company’s IT server, email and date processing operations
  • Provide IT support and telephone IT problem solving for company IT users, out of hours if required
  • Liaise with management on the development of new applications and enhancements to existing applications
  • Provide IT, software and E solutions where possible to operational needs posed by management.
  • Recommend to management with costed proposals, benefits and improvements to company IT systems.
  • Maintain and update the company website.
  • Ensure IT back up and virus protection of the company’s IT systems is fully operational and effective.
  • Help specify and select new products for the IT Infrastructure
  • Monitor and improve where cost effective the reliability and resilience of the IT infrastructure
  • Ensure that there is a standardisation of software and applications across the companies IT users machines
  • Train users in IT use and applications.
  • Monitor and review periodically all Company IT users machines for viruses, back up and performance
  • Personal Duties
  • Maintain tidy general administration, effective record keeping and documentation filing;
  • Self-development and continuing personal development;
  • Comply at all times with the Company’s Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality and Security Policies;
  • Comply at all times with QA procedures as laid down in the Company’s Quality Manual;
  • Execute the responsibilities of the job role according to lawful and ethical standards;
  • Any other such duties and / or tasks of which they are deemed capable, or for which they have been trained or will receive training from the Company, as reasonably requested by the Finance and Admin Manager.






Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree in related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience
  • A professional qualification commensurate with the job requirements, minimum of degree level
  • Proven Experience and Knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Proven Experience and Knowledge of MS Office, Peachtree or Sage accountancy software
  • Proven Experience and Knowledge of networks and server operation and maintenance
  • Ability to document software installed, developed and programmed
  • Must be numerate and good with English, both written and spoken.
  • Reliable and Presentable
  • Able to work as part of a team but be prepared to take responsibility for own tasks;
  • Able to communicate with users in a support role with a good telephone manner
  • Must be able to communicate and explain reliably and clearly to IT users and senior management.
  • Able to work extended hours on occasions when required.
