Due to the on goining trend of things in nigeria industries where almost all aspect of Nigerian industries is been headed and managed by expatriates due to low technical know how of Nigerian graduates, a local content policy had been designed by the federal government to
empower Nigerians in the management of their affairs in the absence of expatriates. To achieve this, strategic plans had been mapped out to train and retrain Nigeriana to this effect.
On this note, it had been of PARAMOUT INTEREST to train Nigerian graduates and students in the use of sophisticated software like PDMS and HYSYS, SOLID WORKS for engineering designs.
Aspen HYSYS is the most popular and industry driven software used for
process design, especially designs related to the oil and gas industry. Flarenet handles gas flaring, pipenet deals with
hydraulic pipe modeling, PDMS handles graphical and catalogue based plant design from conception to decommissioning, while SOLID WORKS deal with engineering component design, simulation and stress analysis

HYSYS handles process modeling from the oil/gas well, to the NGL plant or to the
refinery and distribution..Presently it is being used by SHELL, CHEVRON, NNPC,
EXXON-MOBIL AND many oil servicing companies.

In Port Harcourt a training centre is now open to offer training in the use of these softwares to let interested individuals or group to equip themselves for the oil and gas career.
The instructors are experienced and technically based engineers. This training contains latest PTDF training format and materials. Training is open to graduates and students of; chemical, mechanical, petroleum, civil, gas, materials and metallurgical, environmental engineering as
well as geology industrial physics and chemistry and those interested in the oil and gas industry.

Also plans had been put in place to allow interested individuals in Lagos state to be part of this local content policy. that is, to be part of this training on the use of this sophisticated Oil & Gas tools(software). So there will be training on this software(s) come month of may in Lagos.

The training will be based on ASME B31.3 & B31.4 CODE.
