AGAIN! Angry job seekers almost lynch ‘419’ recruitment officials

An irate mob of job applicants in Ibadan, Oyo State almost lynched two fake officials of a purported Federal Inland Ports Authority (FIPA) for attempting to dupe them. The unemployed youths, including graduates, beat, stripped and paraded the suspects through the major streets of the metropolis, as they protested the attempt to take advantage of them.
A private radio station in the city had announced that Dry Ports was embarking on recruitment that would last for three days.
Prospective applicants were directed to bring N2, 500, with originals of their credentials, in addition to presenting themselves for screening in white shorts, vest and tennis.
They must be aged between 25 and 45 years, the “Authority” purportedly further specified in a bulletin.
By 7.00 a.m. that fateful day, hundreds of the job seekers had besieged Olubadan Stadium, Iyaganku venue. After waiting for officials of the agency to commence the exercise for almost four hours without luck, the applicants confronted the two persons, who allegedly presented themselves as the officials.
They were, however, unable to prove their identities.
The duo were said to have started collecting the N2, 500 from each applicant, before they were asked to produce the staff of the agency. They later told the apprehensive applicants that they were merely friends of those recruiting for the agency, assuring them that the FIPA officials who were to conduct the screening were on their way to the venue.
One of them, who refused to disclose his name, said they were sent by FIPA officials to maintain stability, saying the exercise would still hold. “We are just friends of the officials, we are here to see that things were in order,” he said.
Sensing foulplay, the angry job seekers descended on the two men, stripped them naked and beat them black and blue. They later paraded them round the streets of Ibadan , singing derisive songs, amid shouts of “ole, ole, ole (thief, thief, thief).”
They alleged the men had collected about N5 million, from them before they were exposed, adding that they would use them as example to teach those exploiting the economic hardship of the country to dupe Nigerians. The youths numbering about 2,000, took the protest to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dugbe and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Agodi.
They warned media organisations to verify the claims of those bringing advertorials, in order not to be seen to have conspired to dupe the populace. An applicant, Mr. Thomas Ayoniyi, who said he learnt of the purported recruitment on the radio, said the announcement had raised his hope of a brighter future, regretting, however, that: “On getting here, we discovered that the so- called officials wanted to defraud us.”
He added: “Some of us have graduated since 2003 and needed the job badly, only for some people to think they can play on our intelligence.” Another applicant who pleaded anonymity, said he got to the venue before 9 am when the recruitment was to commence but that no official was seen. The aggrieved youths blamed the radio station that broadcast the advertisement, saying its management should have established the identity of the advertisers before airing it.
However, Daily Sun learnt that the state government had disclaimed the advert, saying it could not confirm tits authenticity earlier in the week. A release signed by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Kola Balogun, had reportedly warned that the Nigeria Shippers Council, had claimed ignorance of the existence of such outfit and warned those looking for employment to beware.

Re: AGAIN! Angry job seekers almost lynch ‘419’ recruitment officials
I am of the opinion that ESTHER BREAKTHROUGH is next in line now. That business set up have misleaded a lot of promising Nigerians. People have travelled down to lagos from other states to attend interviews and test wasting time and resources all to discover that the place is a fraud. It's so sad.

Re: AGAIN! Angry job seekers almost lynch ‘419’ recruitment officials
Is really very unfortunate for this country @ age 50. But I really think yahoo boys had changed strategy to use the unemployment crisis to generate fortune.
Pls guys take your time these days, verify the sources because even when you're invited for interview it may as well turn out to be a kidnap ploy.

Re: AGAIN! Angry job seekers almost lynch ‘419’ recruitment officials
This is a good story that will teach others lesson, once i was played by one advert in our Nigeria paper and he asked me to send N500 to their company at Port-Harcourt as to facilitate my letter of appointment being sent to me in time and i use N500 to sent N500 through my bank to this fraudster. since my bank is involved I believe they are not 419 but they proved me wrong that the are partner with the fraudster, since then i see all advert in paper as 419. Also let me intimate you with the new trend use by this 419s, one happen here in warri, where a church member was said to have a link with oyinbo (white) who worn a contract in oil company and want the church pastor to help him in recruiting good & Godly minded individual in his church or his environment, forms were printed ,distributed without fees, but you have to pay offering as recruitment is after each Tuesdays and Sundays service , help offerings were call and pastor said he doesn't want N10 or N20 as offering as his god is not a poor one, people troop to the church but later to hear the work doesn't go through. The church is still existing in warri. I nearly enter the place as tey made me HOD but i thread it softly with all my eyes open gadagba.

Re: AGAIN! Angry job seekers almost lynch ‘419’ recruitment officials
KUDOS TO THE IB GUYS! WE DO NOT NEED TO KEEP WARNING ESTHERBREAKTHROUGH, E-THROUGH OR EBT SINCE WE KNOW THEY ARE ONE AND THE SAME. THE NEXT TIME WE SEE ANYTHING FROME THEM WE MATCH TO OJUELEGBA, OR FROM ANY OUTFIT THAT IS SPURIOUS THAT DEMAND CREDENTIALS AND ANY MONEY FROM US, WE SIMPLY GO THERE WITH OUR CREDENTIALS AND 'CLUBS AND DAGGERS'. WHEN THEY ARE REAL, WE PRESENT OUR CREDENTIALS OTHERWISE WE PRESENT THE CLUBS AND DAGGERS. HOW ABOUT THAT, GUYS?! LOL

Re: AGAIN! Angry job seekers almost lynch ‘419’ recruitment officials
Unemployment has made thousands of innocent Nigerians to fall a prey into the hands of scammers and 419 in a quest to get to either get a good job or atleast get something doing. The same unemployment to has equally turned thousands of Nigerians to broad daylight thieves, robbers, scammers, 419 and etc. My question is what is our government doing to curb all these menace of unemployment? Tell me the essence of having a government? All what they know is to amazed the money that their generation yet unborn would not be able to spend finish and quest for second term. Conclusively, I believe that both the angry mob and the dupers are unemployed, hungry and frustrated and there is nothing frustration can not lead to. When you are hungry and frustrated numerous evil thought will occupy your mind. Though one must not allow any frustration to land him in the cell or where he may lose his live.

Re: AGAIN! Angry job seekers almost lynch ‘419’ recruitment officials
I am very happy to read this wonderful info. I am very delighted for such development which will definitely serve as a deterrant to the others in such nefarious activities. I am of the view that the makers and the entire management of E-Break Through will be visited with the same treament. I am practically one of the graduates being fraudulently duped and psychologically traumatised by E- Break Through. I was defrauded to the tone of N2000(confirmation letter) and N100(registration fee) in the name of securing non-existent and non-available job from the so-called clients they are partnering with. I received a text message purportedly written by E-Break Through inviting me for an interview. Actually, i did apply through my phone having gotten the info from Tuesday Guardian. I thought initially that the firm is real being advertised by popular Guardian Newspaper, but to my greatest surprise, they are criminals and fraudsters who have been defrauding many down throdden job seekers and poverty-striken graduates over many years as i learnt. I was posted to Metro Guard by them knowing fully well that i will be discarded, the MD of Metro Guard instead of telling me categorically that vancancy did not exist, found one cock and bull story to opine as a reason of discharging me and many others. we went back to E-Break Through to explain to the about the develoment only to be posted else where angain. Do you know what finally happen this time? On getting to the second company i was posted to,i discovered that the so-called company had collasped a very long time ago. I was bastardised and traumatised heavily after i wasted so much money to locate the company. on getting to E- break through to complain again, i saw many people posted to the same folded company i went. The manager tried to post me else where i replied no. that was how i was defrauded and my time wasted in search of non-existent and non-available job through E break through. be warned don't waste your precious time with them, they are fraudsters.

Re: AGAIN! Angry job seekers almost lynch ‘419’ recruitment officials
As long as the government of the day refuses to perform it's basic statutory functions, issues like this will always be occuring. It shouldn't have happened like this in civilised countries where government live up to their responsibilities.
Stripping people naked in public is degrading and dehumanising, let's not praise job seekers even when they go the extra mile of taking the laws into their hands. If justice should be served, then it should be served properly, otherwise it becomes vengeance.
