Webpage/Website Development Competition 2009/2010

Telecommunications Training Institute, THE CYBERSCHUUL, has sponsored a Website Development Competition which seeks to select the candidate to receive Standing Recommendation on website development support to high-grade corporate firms for up to December 2010.

The Winner must pass a pre-competition examination and eventually produce the best evaluated project of his/her choice in WebPage/WebSite development.

Competitors must be Nigerian citizens who are not older than 30 years.

The Competition Process will last 3 months.

All candidates who score more than 59% in the Competition will be reimbursed for their effort but only the highest scorer shall be selected as the Best Web Developer for 2009/2010.

Candidates’ Resume/CV’s are not required at this stage.

You are welcome to the 2009/2010 WebPage/WebSite Development Competition.

The Competition arose as response to requests from reputable corporate firms which desire to engage highly skilled persons to handle their website development and maintenance mangement, on contract. THE CYBERSCHUUL has therefore sponsored a competition which seeks to choose the best evaluated person who will be on Standing Recommendation of the Institute to any firm that makes request for such skills from now till December 2010.

2. The selection process is four-stage, namely:
• A Pre-Competition Examination,
• Evaluation of a specific Competition-Project,
• Post Evaluation Interview, and
• Remuneration Negotiation.

3. To participate in this competition, a person must be all of the following:
• A Nigerian
• A person that has received formal training in Website Design/Development.
• A person that is not yet 30 years old on the date of his expression of interest in this Competition

4. A Personal Data Form, PDF, will be completed by all interested persons.

5. Pre-Project Examination
A Pre-Project Examination will be taken by those whose Personal Data show them to have satisfied all the conditions specified above. The one-hour examination will test the skills of the candidate in basic webpage design and use of tools to ensure he/she meets the minimum requirements for the competences required.

6. Competition Project
The Project which a candidate will submit for the competition will be at his/her choice but acceptable to THE CYBERSCHUUL and to the appointed assessors of the process. Details of the project requirements will unfold immediately after the Pre-Project examination and only to those who score 50% and above in the examination.

7. Duration of Competition
The selection process is limited to three months and must have concluded in any case by April 30, 2009.

8. Communication
Announcements about the competition will always be publicised in CyberschuulNews and also at the Cyberschuulnews.com website ( http://www.cyberschuulnews.com ). All candidates must therefore subscribe to the e-magazine. To subscribe, please send a request to [email protected] and wait for confirmation of subscription before completing the PDF. Candidates who are already subscribed may proceed to complete the PDF.
Candidates are advised to use the email address: [email protected] for all correspondences with the Institute on the Competition.

9. Location of Candidates
Candidates can be resident anywhere in the world. They will however be responsible for the cost of their appearance at any place and in all cases where their physical appearance is mandatory except at the final interview to select the best of three highest scorers when all the three will be reimbursed for cost of their travel.

10. Overseas Candidates
This competition is being managed in Lagos, Nigeria. Candidates who live overseas are advised to confirm that fact in a mail to [email protected] so they can take the on-line version of the Pre-Project Examination. On-line version is however not allowed for those who live in Nigeria.

11. The Winner
The Winner
• Shall be the best overall scorer at the final assessment of the projects submitted by all candidates.
• Shall receive reimbursement for the true cost of his project.
• Shall be on Standing Recommendation to any firm which requests for Web Developer on contract and he shall relate with the firm, independent of THE CYBERSCHUUL.

12. Disqualified Candidates
Past Winners or runners-up in previous competitions sponsored by the Institute are disqualified from participating in this edition.

13. Enquiries
It is usual for persons who intend to participate in competitions of this type to write and seek clarifications. This is welcome. It is also usual for many who seek clarifications to request for a proof of genuineness and efficacy of the process and especially to use foul language. The Institute or any of its Managers or assessors shall not respond to enquiries whose authors use indecent language or whose focus is considered capable of slowing down the process.
