CDMA means code MULTIPLE ACCESS, each user (mobile station) is assigned a unique code(walsh code) this unique codes distinguishes each user in the radio channel or radio enviroment, its advantage is you have a lot of MS using the same frequency channel simultaneously while gsm uses FDMA frequency div mult access and timeslots in TDMA time div mult access.this makes GSM only able to have 0-7...(8 ms or subscribers at a time) while CDMA can have betwn 128 to 1024 .. in the forward direction, thats incoming call, while 64 in reverse direction,..outgoing call(uplink and downlink)
