One of the newest software in the IT market is SAP. What is SAP and why is it so popular. Lets take a look.

About SAP

SAP is the acronym for Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing. It was started in 1972 by 5 German Engineers in 1972 and now nine out of ten Fortune 500 enterprises make use of SAP.

SAP is comprised of some modules. Each module symbolizes a business procedure and in all there are 19 such modules which go to picture SAP high applicability. There are many SAP companies who offer specified SAP Courses. These courses provide a full understanding of SAP, how it works and its large functionalities. People requiring to break into SAP, unquestionably require to undertake SAP Training.

Why SAP?

The reason why SAP is so favourited now is because of its open architecture. Organisations applying it , can work on it to create some software to meet their business demands. It has been created using the better procedure practices and you can implement business processes with a high level of efficiency and accuracy using SAP.

SAP applications are assembled in such a way that all divisions in an corporation, not only carrying out actions through it they are as well integrated by it, in a seamless fashion. Such is the effective functionality of SAP software that superior software organizations such as Microsoft and IBM use SAP’s products to accomplish their business actions. As of today, SAP is the leading provider of business software, in the world.

SAP NetWeaver is SAP's integrated technology platform and is the technical foundation for all SAP applications since the SAP Business Suite. SAP NetWeaver is marketed as a service-oriented application and integration platform. SAP NetWeaver provides the development and runtime environment for SAP applications and can be used for custom development and integration with other applications and systems. SAP NetWeaver is built using open standards and industry de facto standards and can be extended with, and interoperate with, technologies such as Microsoft .NET, Sun Java EE, and IBM WebSphere.

SAP NetWeaver's release is considered as a strategic move by SAP for driving enterprises to run their business on a single, integrated platform that includes both applications and technology. Industry analysts refer to this type of integrated platform offering as an "applistructure" (applications + infrastructure). It is widely held that this approach is driven by industry's need to lower IT costs through an enterprise architecture that is at once (1) more flexible; (2) better integrated with applications; (3) built on open standards to ensure future interoperability and broad integration; and, (4) provided by a vendor that is financially viable for the long term.[citation needed]

SAP is fostering relationships with system integrators and independent software vendors, many of the latter becoming "Powered by SAP NetWeaver".

SAP NetWeaver is part of SAP's plan to transition to a more open, service-oriented architecture and to deliver the technical foundation of its applications on a single, integrated platform and common release cycle.

NetWeaver is essentially the integrated stack of SAP technology products. The SAP Web Application Server (sometimes referred to as WebAS) is the runtime environment for the SAP applications -- all of the mySAP Business Suite solutions (SRM, CRM, SCM, PLM, ERP) run on SAP WebAS.

The core products that make up SAP NetWeaver include:

SAP NetWeaver Application Server
SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (PI)
SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal (EP)
SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (MDM)
SAP NetWeaver Mobile
SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence
SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (CE)

SAP has also teamed with hardware vendors like HP, IBM, Fujitsu-Siemens, and Sun to deliver appliances (i.e., hardware + software) to simplify and enhance the deployment of NetWeaver components. Examples of these appliances include:

BI Accelerator
Enterprise Search

With the SAP NetWeaver platform, you can align IT with business requirements. SAP combines composition technologies and application functionality to reduce IT complexity and increase business flexibility. With SAP NetWeaver, you can compose applications using enterprise services, orchestrate business processes and events, manage enterprise information, and deliver applications and content to users more quickly and cost-effectively.

With the SAP NetWeaver platform, your organization can implement crucial IT practices in a flexible, step-by-step approach at low cost. You can address your immediate IT needs first and, since the platform components are tightly integrated, you can expand your practice projects over time within a sustainable cost structure.

SAP NetWeaver enables the following IT practices. For each practice, SAP NetWeaver supports a variety of key IT activities – all of which are easy to perform using the platform's integrated components.

Benefits of SAP Training:

A scarcity of experienced talent combined with the growing popularity of SAP (NYSE: SAP)'s NetWeaver platform and other products has helped pump up pay considerably for SAP-related skills in recent months, according to a new report.

A shortage of workers with SAP NetWeaver BI and XI skills, among others, is sending salaries skyrocketing for consultants and in-house IT workers, according to recent research.

....This is good career news for people with those skills or students who wish to acquire them, especially at a time when Janco Associates reports that 13,000 IT jobs may be lost in recent restructurings at HP, Lehman Brothers, and Merrill Lynch.

To take advantage of this career opportunity, IT professionals and computer science students need to decide what specific SAP modules they want to work with and what industry and even department they want to work in, Foote said. Companies are not looking to train people themselves so they are seeking very specific skills such as patent records in the healthcare industry, he explained.
