Our client – one of the largest conglomerates in Nigeria- is currently requiring the services of a transport and logistics manager. Please find below the necessary information
Description of the position
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and in close relationship with the Sales and Exports Departments, the Transport and Logistics Manager will be in charge of managing all logistics services which consist of a fleet of over 100 trucks (mainly MACK brand of trucks). This position has the responsibility of monitoring and tracking all the trucks, the movement of trucks and drivers, state of trucks, repairs and maintenance, budget adherence, productivity improvements, team training, safety and customer service.

Responsibilities
• To organize all land transportation
• Answer internal and customers queries on status of orders, discrepancies and take corrective actions
• Record entry and file commercial documents
• Prepare regular (daily, weekly and monthly report) on the movement, position and state of the trucks
• Prepare and administer commercial papers
• To optimize the transport and logistics capacities of the company
• To maintain close relations with import and export operations
• Full supervision of the operations and maintenance of the following: job planning, invoicing, morning operations review, night operations review, dispatching official documents
• Monitoring and reporting on Drivers’ board book, administrative complain book, operating account, state of trucks, maintenance of trucks, mileage, diesel consumption
• Analysis of trucks and drivers operations using tacking systems to establish comparison report and strategize for the optimal use of the trucks.
• Total control over the movement of truck and any other administrative work relating to transport and logistics

Qualification and Experience
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the transport and logistics sector as well as in team management with real knowledge of Mack Trucks
• Sound knowledge of tracking devises and logistics’ software
• A valid driver’s License is a must
• Fluent in Written and spoken English with sound knowledge of Computer
• Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills
• The ability to communicate at all levels
• Excellent leadership, motivational and presentation skills
• Work well under pressure and meeting deadlines
