Job Position: National MRV(Monitoring,Reporting snd Verification) Expert
Job Description:
  • support and undertake capacity needs assessment on forestry inventory and monitoring
  • support the development of capacities for undertaking GHG inventory in forestry and land use sectors
  • assist in specialized training and capacity building on forest monitoring and participatory forest monitoring
  • assist in the procurement and interpretation of satellite imagery
  • provide inputs and technical supports in the areas of land use stratification
  • draft terms of reference , letters of agreement and coordinate the work of international and national consultant recruited to undertake MRV related work
  • follow up execution and payments of letters of agreement and contracts
  • assist in the preparation of project work plans for submission to project steering committee for review

Qualification:
  • Advanced University degree in forestry or a closely related field
  • 5 years experience in related field
  • competence on forest information system and information management
  • good knowledge of climate change and REDD as well as UNFCC/IPCC technical proccedures and guidelines for the forestry sector
  • excellent abilities in project coordination and monitoring are required
  • demonstrated field experience in Nigeria and strong knowledge of relevant Nigerian institutuins for REDD are required
  • strong inter personal skills both in oral and written
  • experience working in inter cultural environments and relevant working experience
  • international travel may also be required
