Topic: Universal telecoms gave me an invite

I got the same sms. please anyone with useful information should help. just hope is not a scam

I got same text this morning.

why should network providers like glo, mtn and zain support this scammers. they have their whole details before they can issue them short code numbers. if u lost your SI, these network providers will ask for all your details including you passport if your id card photocopy aint clear.
NCC sholud know about this. I will send a mail to The National newspapers.

below is the content of the messages sent to individuals:

universal invites you to a test in lagos on 24/10/09. text skype*desired position*email to 35058. time and venue will be sent. Applications are still being received..

question 1: who and what is UNIVERSAL into?
question 2: why do we need to reply the text to get a TIME and VENUE?
question 3: what POSITIONS are available?
question 4: why are APPLICATIONS still been received? is there no DEADLINE?

unfortunately, i saw their advert on the papers last two months and decided to try it out and got the following reply instantly:

Welcome. Your application has been received. you'll be contacted shortly

they promised to get back to us in 2 weeks time ( as stated in the advert) but i'm yet to receive any reply after almost 6 weeks!. though they replied some of my friends who applied for it ( probably because i was charged N15 and not the usual N100).

i tried tracking the message centre through which the text came from and it reads: +2348030002430 (not so sure! but could be a company based in the east).

i have this feeling that these guys could be in a contract deal with MTN : where by they make people sent text messages for a fee and are been paid a comission for the no of messages sent through and to the code no 35058 .

i hate to admit the fact that these company may be a SCAM. but let's just wait and see what happens on SAT 24 and then after that. just hope we will not be asked to pay any money for a test.

i will be happy to apologize if my above findings are false.

Don't mean to burst your bubbles but YES! It is a scam! U keep replying their messages for 100bucks each time and they keep giving u bits of info to keep u interested. typical! these things r quite obvious if u can be less sentimental. why would anyone invite you for a test and ask u again to text in order to get a venue? God knows what happens after that. even if skype is an organization operating in Nigeris, trust me bo, that message did not come from them. i got it too and i won't be beaten twice. it's definitely scam. wish u all of the very best... with real things...
