Hell was let loose as five members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Iree, Boripe local government area of Osun state sustained gun-shot injuries while about 10 of the party members equally sustained deep matchet cuts in a bloody clash between the party's factions.
THISDAY gathered that the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Ademola Rasaq, who had initiated a reconciliatory meeting at Iragbiji with the two factions of the PDP narrowly escaped death.
Unconfirmed report also said that a woman lost her life during the fracas where dangerous weapons such as guns, cutlasses and charms were freely used.
It was gathered that the party had on Monday called a reconciliatory meeting at Iragbiji between the two warring factions of the ruling PDP with a view to resolving their differences.
THISDAY further learnt that temper rose at the meeting when one of the factions accused the party Secretary, Chief Yinka Adeojo, of allegedly monopolising all political appointments due to the council, particularly his community, Iree.
The allegation which was made in the presence of the state Chairman, Alhaji Ademola Rasaq did not go down well with Adeojo's faction who was alleged to have resolved to vent their anger on the other faction when they return home.
According to sources close to the meeting, the faction loyal to Adeojo went ahead to carry out its threat by unleashing terror on the opposing faction.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Joshua Olayemi, confirmed the clash between the two factions, saying that two people were reported to have sustained serious injuries.Olayemi told THISDAY that a councillor from Ward 10 of the council, Mr. Idowu Adeyemo and a woman simply identified as Nike sustained serious injuries from the attack.He said that no arrest has yet been made, adding that the police command has commenced investigation into the remote causes of the crisis with a view to arresting all the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
