VACANCIES
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following vacant positions in the
Superintendent, Inspector and Assistant Cadres, of the Nigeria Customs Service.
2. CATEGORY ‘A’ - CUSTOMS SUPERITENDENT CADRE:
ASC II (GENERAL DUTY) – CONSOL 08
Applicants must possess a Bachelors Degree or Equivalent in any of the following fields of study and NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate:
(i) Statistics/Mathematic (ii) Computer Science/Engineering
(iii) Management Science (iv) Arts/Social Sciences
(v) Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering (vi) LLB/BL
(vii) Estate Management/Town Planning

CATEGORY ‘B’ - CUSTOMS INSPECTOR CADRE:
i. INSPECTOR OF CUSTOMS (GENERAL DUTY) – CONSOL 07
Applicant must possess HND obtained from accredited polytechnic in any of the under-listed fields of study and NYSC Discharge Certificate.
(i) Statistics/Mathematic (ii) Computer Science/Engineering
(iii) Management Science (iv) Estate Management/Town Planning
(v) Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering

CATEGORY ‘B’ - CUSTOMS INSPECTOR CADRE:
i. ASSISTANT INSPECTOR (GENERAL DUTY) – CONSOL 06
Applicant must possess ND obtained from accredited polytechnic in any of the fields of study listed below.
(i) Statistics/Mathematic (ii) Computer Science/Engineering
(iii) Management Science (iv) Estate Management/Town Planning
(v) Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering

CATEGORY ‘C’ - CUSTOMS ASSISTANT CADRE:
i. Customs Assistant Grade II – CONSOL 04
Applicant must possess SSCE/NECO or GCE with credits in not less than three subjects including English Language and Mathematics obtained at one sitting and passes in at least two other subject, OR GCE Ordinary level with passes in four subjects including English and Mathematics obtained at one sitting or five or more subjects including English and Mathematics obtained at two sittings.

Customs Assistant Grade II – CONSOL 03
Applicants must possess evidence of full course in a Government approved secondary school or S.75 or JSSC and Trade Test certificate where relevant.

3. General Requirement
In addition all candidates must:-
(a) Be a Nigeria Citizen by birth or descent.
(b) Not be less than 1.7 metres in height for male and 1.64 metres for female.
(c) Have a fully expanded chest measure of not less than 0.87 metres, male.
(d) Be certified by a Government Medical Officer to be physically and mentally fit for appointment in the Service.
(e) Not suffering from any form of physical or mental disability
(f) Be free from any form of financial embarrassment.
(g) Be of good character and must not have been found guilty of any  criminal offence.
(h) Be Computer literate
(i) Present a Certificate of State of origin signed by the Chairman/Secretary of their Local Government. Certificates endorsed by Liaison offices are unacceptable.
4. METHOD OF APPLICATION
All applications are to be made on-line. Suitably qualified Candidates should log on to the Nigeria Customs Service website http://customs.gov.ng to fill application form, free of charge. Applicants should click on ‘vacancies’ on the home page fill the appropriate Forms and submit on-line. Candidates submitting hard copies of application Forms at Customs Headquarters, Abuja, or any other Customs Formation nationwide will not be attended to. Only applications in respect of the advertised positions will be considered. Upon submission, Applicants will receive an acknowledgment containing a Reference number which must be quoted in all future correspondence. Deadline for submission of application is Monday 18th August, 2008. Only Short-listed Candidates will be invited for interview.
