The IATA/FIATA International Cargo Agents Diploma has gained worldwide industry recognition as the premier qualification for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the air cargo forwarding industry.

How You Will Benefit

Under the leadership of IATA and FIATA (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Transitaires et Assimilées), the IATA/FIATA International Cargo Agents Training Programme has been developed and is updated by a team of cargo experts and training specialists to assist Cargo Agencies in meeting their obligations under the Resolutions.

The IATA/FIATA International Cargo Agents Training Programme consists of the following courses:

* Cargo Introductory Course
* Air Cargo Rating
* Dangerous Goods Regulations - Initial
* Dangerous Goods Regulations - Recurrent

Enrolment and Examination Dates (pdf)

Although the IATA/FIATA International Cargo Agents training courses are designed for independent home study, they are also offered as classroom courses at IATA Authorised Training Centres.
HOW THE COURSES WORK

The IATA/FIATA training courses are based on a self-teach, independent study method. Each student is supplied with a training kit which includes all the manuals and publications required for the course.

The student may register at any time. While the amount of study required will vary from student to student, about 100 hours per course is usually required to complete International Air Cargo Rating and Dangerous Goods Regulations. The Introductory Course requires approximately 200 hours.

A good understanding of written English, world geography and basic mathematics is essential.

Enrolment for the Dangerous Goods Regulations Courses is valid for 12 months. Enrolment for the other courses is valid for 18 months.

Course fees include training materials and examination fee. They do not cover shipping costs of materials, nor any travel or personal expenses related to the examination. The fee is non-refundable. Unused training materials cannot be refunded or returned.

EXAMINATION INFORMATION:

All newly enrolled students will be automatically registered to sit their examination in the first eligible examination session.

An Examination Confirmation Letter is included in each study kit. This letter specifies exactly which exam session has been registered per student. It also identifies the IATA Local Co-ordinator responsible for organising the examination session.

NOTE: Students may be required to take examinations at an exam centre that is not in their home city or country of enrolment. All travel and personal expenses and travel documentation are the students' responsibility. The IATA Local Co-ordinator determines the exact date and location of the examination.

Please note that students are able to change their registered exam session to a later one within their enrollment period. This is done by writing to IATA's Distance Learning Examinations Centre at [email protected]

IATA's Cargo Agency Conference Resolutions governing IATA Cargo Agencies stipulate that as a minimum, at least two full-time competent persons must hold the IATA/FIATA Introductory Course Diploma or have completed an equivalent course and must also hold a valid/current Dangerous Goods Certificate obtained from an IATA recognised establishment and/or course.
