If you're a freelance writer or other solopreneur hoping to attract new clients through your blog or website, you need to be sure these potential clients can actually FIND you online. That means you need to optimize your site(s).

After all, success on the internet really depends on traffic!

It's just that simple.

You need lots and lots of traffic to reach customers and clients for your services and products.

Here are some ways to optimize your site:

1. Post to your site regularly. If you don't post new content at least 3 times a week, then you have no reason for people to visit your site often, and the search engines won't have anything new to pick up either.

2. You need a way to capture names and email addresses on your site. Once someone visits your site, you want to have a way to reconnect with them on a regular basis. For that, you need an opt-in box and some sort of offer so they'll want to "opt in" and get on your mailing list.

3. Even if you have an opt-in box, without a clear offer for opting in, most people won't bother. Make it clear what you are offering to anyone who signs up for your list. Usually, this means something immediately, like a free report or free e-book even if people will also receive a free newsletter from you later, on a regular basis.

4. Be sure you have some sort of way to track your traffic. You need to know how much traffic you are generating but also where that traffic is coming from. It's also good to know what visitors are clicking on once they get to your site.

5. Install widgets and plugins to make your site more unique and to help get the word out whenever you make a new post.
