My brother despair not for your time will definately come. Always take the blame for your shortcomings and aspire to do better the next time that way you ultimately become a better person. Remeber Napoleon Hill's every adversity carrying a seed of equivalent benefit. It is well with us.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
People Dont plan to fail but fail to plan, Most employers , not excluding the likes of GTB and other have laid down Recruitment selection criteria to which they usually adhere to .
There are Interview questions to which they use to assess candidates. not limited to that they also check outspokeness, dress sense, fluency, IQ, etc
There are practice interview questions on the net with which you could ground your self with. Just because you passed the test does not mean you cant fail an interview question.
Am not defending GTB but take a look inward and ask the Question, Did i really answer their questions well. Then the odds will speak for it self.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
I think we should concentrate more on improving ourselves by identifying our deficiencies and working on them to get better instead of stigmatizing or labelling others as being tribalistic. Your haven gotten to the final stage of the interview means you are too hot to be unemployed. Nigeria go better.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
I want you all to realise one thing. GTBank is a bank with standard and cannot do such things. I totally disagree with lex4real. You don't have to blame anybody for your own misfortune. I know some people in GTBank H.R that are Igbos. Life is all about ups and downs.
My guy, God will provide your own job but stop blackmailing an industry of high esteem
It is well

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
Learn to accept your mistake and not to apportion blames. Why not look at it from this angle that the bank only need the best three and you happen to have scored lowest. You may have done real good but that is to your own judgement. Do you know the standard the bank used in its appointment?
Was it not the same people that called you for the interview?
Do you know that you might be doing yourself more bad than good with this your mindset?
Drop allegations and face how best you could make it. You should have asked how to help yourself better in future interviews rather than trying to tarnish the image of an already established bank like GTB.
What makes you a man is not how many time you fall but how many times you were able to rise.
Forge ahead and learn from your mistakes.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
lex4real,
of a truth I sympathize with ur loss of that interview, it is part of job seeking anyway, if everybody click the job on every interview we would not have so large a number of job seekers, but i am afraid your own case might be as a result of your mindset, it might even be the reason u lost it, that in this time and age and with ur qualification you can still think u were disqualified on tribal ground. bros u need to work on ur mindset, if the four of u were needed in the first place why did they call u for interview, is it not to get the best among you guys, if they want to be tribalistic, seeing your name alone should not have earn u invitation, instead of u to concentrate on what is it , u got wrong u are there feeding urself and feeble minded people like u with negative info. bro step up.
as i am writing this, I av lost more than 20 interviews in a bid to change my job, i av been interviewed by pple from diffrent races and tribes yet no tot of tribalism, u might av lost it , not that u are not good enough but the number is more than required and sombody has to go, somtin must av kip u below the others.just call the successful ones and congratulate them also call your interviewers to thank them for their time. and keep working and praying hard ur miracle is on the way.
-
Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
Mr. Lex4real, I guess you should have told GTbank to allow you grade urself after the interview. To say the fact, u're just being insincere. I also attended GTbank interview last October and was told that my performance did not meet up with their requirement despite being a yoruba. my interviewer was a yoruba lady as well. I'll just advice you to look inward and prepare very well if any other interview opportunity comes your way. It is well

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
My friends,Lets call a spade a spade.Everybody knows that another name for GTB is TRIBALISTIC BANK,with YORUBA as surname.Fukin bank!!!.Bros,God will see u thro and everyone of us.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
You may say all this but hope you are not sufering from inferiority complex,
cos come to think of it, if truly you servein the NYSC you will see that the yorubas Really Sturdy and exel well in academics than any other tribe in this country that may be a rasom to have more of yorubas in any thing that education is involved ::) ;) They also answer technical Queation Better cos of the level mof understanding they have in Lag and Other Big city like Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Ife, Akure and others

@tessywilfred!
You got it all wrong.
You just displayed your immaturity, sentimentality, tribalism, ignorance and weak level of reasoning after spending not less than 4 years in the university. I wonder if the university actually passed through you. :(
If you feel intimidated when you are around yorubas, too bad.
My point here is not to defend yorubas but for us to be objective.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
I am not one to use the issue of tribalism as an alibi for my failures but I tell You,I experienced it for real last year4.Remember the OANDO Graduate Recruitment last year.Thousands of people applied, about two or three thousand got invitation 4 aptitude test and then maybe two hundred or so were invited 4 interview including my humble self.I travelled all the way from Bayelsa to Lagos and these OANDO people made us stay a whole week in Lagos spending the little money we had.Believe me,in the end, they only selected 19 people,18 Yorubas and one Northerner. You do not have to be a professor of statistics to know that it is tribalism.I have no problem with narrowminded people who want to work with only their tribesmen, but the question is;Why stress other people by inviting them 4 Aptitude test and interview just as window dressing. It is sheer wickedness.Shame on OANDO,GTB? and other organisations that indulge in such practices. That is why Nigeria is not moving forward.
-
Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
It's not out of place to be paranoid when you're not successful in an interview. But I want to believe there where some yorubas that wrote the test but weren't invited for the interview. I'll suggest you cast your mind on the totality of your interview and learn all you need to, rather than blaming the outcome on tribalism.
I wish you the best in your job search.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
Bros, in anything you do always try to be positive. who even know that your initial negative mind against these mngrs broght this misfortune to you. Hello! Can you also tell this humble house, your assumed performance in relative to other applicants? Companies are interested to employ the best "HEAD'.And they can never employ more than the required number.
I have attended many interview, and i never Blame anyone for my failure instead, I work harder and look forward to my glorious day.I believe, what is mine will definitely be mine at the right time.
So,my friend try to be focus and never blame your misfortune on anyone. The koko word is "WORK HARDER"

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
Dear All,
I happen to be a living witness in which all top executives in Diamond Bank comprise of mainly Igbo guys. No be true!!!!.
The truth is " Believe in your self & allow God to make a way for you". I had occupied a top level position in an oil outfit owned by an Igbo man & being controlled/managed by Igbo guys (all except me). My case shouldn't be an exception.....Just trust in God.
Corporate firms are all out to exploits, starve , use & dump you where this need arises. Pray to be in charge of your own COMPANY.
Cheers.

Nigerians!!!!!!!!! How come almost everybody is on the defensive side. Its like GTB staffs were met to pass their comment on this to protect their image and see everyone is just raising harsh word on Lex even the one who says he is a first bank man now,(who we go ask if na true). I am very sure that for most of the people raising these bad and insultive words, if you leave GTB today with a sack, you wont say anything better. Imagine someone saying Lex is dull, if he is dull then why did he get to that stage of the recruitment, u say his character put him out, why did thesame character take him to that stage.
Nigerian will change, if only we learn to love and respect our indidvidual self esteem.
Lex Dear, dont worry. when things like this happens, jump up and begin to dance because something greater is on your way, who knows, if you get this employment, it might limit you. God has good plans for you.
See, You are a Hero!! .Relax! continue to try and very soon your light will shine.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
hey bro, i beg to differ in your opinion about GTB, i will tell you first hand that it is wrong for you to accuse the bank in its entirity as being a tribalistic bank, on what basis, is it because the" manager", not the "board of trusties" did not choose you,? with a negative attitude like this, trust me u won't go far, learn to see things in positive light. i wish u well.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
Hmmmmm! so where do people like us stand. Mummy Ibo, Daddy yoruba. Lol.
lex, it just wasnt your job . Yours will come.
2 years back, over 800 candidates wrote the then first inland bank test at BUK kano. 150 of us were called for interview. 11 of us made it to the final stage. The interview started for 8am and at about 9pm we were yet to meet with the northern directors. 7 northerners, 3 easthern guys and just me from SW.
Behold 8 of them got their letters , 4 of us did'nt.
It was very painful.
I picked up myself and moved on. Today am employed and for now i love my pay.
Just see it as it wasnt meant to be.
Gtbank is not tribalistic, i stand to be corrected

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
@ da poster,
What you said is not true bcos I am a living witness. U simply did not pass the interview. I am Yoruba and I also attended their interview up to the very last stage in Kaduna b4 being dropped.
The downfall of a man is not the end of his life. Just pick up the mistakes u made during the interview and avoid them next time. If GTB doesnt want you, other companies will appreciate your other good qualities
-
Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
This issue needs not to be dragged this far,I want the house to ask my dear friend how well he felt he performed during the interview. becaues at that stage he claimed he reached, the recruitment teams may only want to recruit the best head(s),somebody with positive mindset, and never above the number they needed at that particular time.I am not saying this kind of thing is not happening in this country, but the cankerworm has its roots everywhere;among Igbos, hausas,Yorubas and so on.Or can we say since Bank PHB,Fidelity,Diamond Banks are dominated by igbos, they only employ Igbos?
Please my dear friend, instead of shifting your inability to get appointed with GTB,why can"t yu go on your kneel and pray to God for a better offer.Or you can go to NIGERDELTA where only IGBOS have the upper hand of getting appointment with all these TOP and HIGHLY rated companies.
NO SENTIMENT PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
I have a dream that one day there will not be yoruba, hausa and igbo again, but nigerians.A country where people will be recognised by the content of their character, intellect and not their language
Folks, i must say this is the best part of all the replies to Lex4Real`s post. Now let`s try to tackle this issue without any sentiments, of course there could have been foul play during his interview stages and maybe tribalism was involved too. Such qualities should never be attributed to any organization that serves the public and offers service to people of different ethinicity including GTB. I believe every company has a policy that adresses this case and GTB of course being a Global, financial institution should have this right policy working and in place. I would suggest any employer reading this post should enforce adequate measures that should be aimed at checking the employment process and to have it fully free and fair and 100% based on Merit. Pls let us all check ourselves and try to have a unified society where culture, religion and different diversity doesn`t deride us of the progress which we always strive to achieve.
Now to all Nigerians, Let us live and grow as one. If my brother really wants the Job all i owe him is to help him get ready for the selection process and not to get him in based on relationship. The true Nigerian and a patriot seeks for the interest of all and not his own interest, let not your judgements be clouded by emotions and sentiments but by a value that is built on a clear understanding of what is Right and what is Wrong.
Lex4Real u dnt stop a fire by igniting a different kind of fire, races well fought and lost prepares us for a more glorious victory.
One Love!

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
It beats my imagination to hear graduates argue and quarrel over tribalism in nigeria as if you are new.The most annoying part is most of us that have dropped mails here.It is either you are supporting your igbo brother or you are suppoting your yoruba bank.pls lets stop all these rubbish and fight the common cause this site was opened.

Re: GTBank (AN ACT OF TRIBALISM)
lex4real,
na wa 4 u, r u d only 1? u contribute nothing but cause trouble, u n ur igbo cohorts.
u r not sensible 2 accuse Gt Bank of tribalism just because d interviewer didn't find u suitable 4 d job. neither r u sensible 2 accuse Yoruba of tribalism just because of ur claim. In life u win some, n lose some jus like in d game of football. you'll not get far with this your kind of mentality.TRY AND DEVELOP A POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE.
My advice, learn to be a good loser and imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship! withdraw all ur accusation n apologize for u r a criminal trying to rally people behind u to cause problem while u sit n watch, jus like your forefathers did in d past.
u can go to republic of Biafra but don't cause chaos here in d land of peace.
IF NOT 4 JOBLESSNESS U DONT HAVE AN ISSUE HERE TO DISCUSS.
