Glo recruitment, check this out!
Hello,
As we continue on our quest for the best job placement, I pray the Almighty God continue to be with us.
For the mere fact that we are unemployed doesn’t mean we don’t have power, as for me my case is with GLO. I begin to wonder why GLOBACOM doesn’t take 2:2 applicants; I was told it’s a company policy.
As my own policy, I have decided not to use my GLOBACOM Line again, as I have switched to MTN. I believe if thousands of 2:2 unemployed youth can have a policy like me too, wait and see our much GLO will lose as revenue just in a month.
The power is in your hands, Use it.

Hi dear,
Kindly dont take it that far with them, if u are so annoyed bcos of 2.2 wot do u want the poly. grad. who seems to av no place in d corporate world to do. let us take it as a company policy nd keep praying for them to expand dt there will be no more 2.1 to employ den they will come cap in hand.
I am soory, i can feel ur pains

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
I really do feel your plight. Can u imagine Access bank followed same steps by not reqruiting graduate from state universities and polytechnies. Its so annoying and the most painful thing is that Mike Adenuga of Globacom didn't finish with a 2.1 and so many others working for Globacom. I think we should embark on not patronizing such companies and see what becomes of them.

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
Hi guys! well if all the blue chips companies wants a 2.1 then there is no place for the 2.2'sin the industry in the nearst future. The fact is that havin below a 2.1 dosnt mean you r not good. U could be better off than a someone with \a 1st class. Dont loose hpe. God will Be Us all !!! :)

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
Hello Jire,
That is the most annoying statement anyone will make in the house. We should pray for the expansion of the company that has failed to use us a a developmental tool. And later you wish that they will employe us. It simply means that they will employ us to play the role of the second-best. Just like in some banks where HND student are only employed as TEmprorary Staff.
Thia is an issue an i support the saying that our future is in our hands.

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
I THINK ITS HIGH TIME THESE COMPANIES REALIZE THAT MAKING A 2.2 DOES NOT MEAN ONE IS NOT GOOD.ITS REALLY PAINFUL...CHEER UP MAN..LIKE I ALWAYS SAY TIME WOULD TELL.
-
Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
hello,i agreed dat everbody in house stop using glo line bcos of their company policy.thanks hollarbissy
-
Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
That is the problem with us in this country. we believe so much in certificate and not in ability. They dont know that sometimes ur ability to get a first class or a 21 in most of our universities depends on your craming pace and not your practical ability. I pray some of these companies will not have problems in the future

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
dose glo think its all that have 2.1 that read and got it...they must be F&*%^T
-
Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
I think its only the government via Federal Ministry of Labour that can as a matter of National policy address this pathetic issue once and for all. The issue of dropping glo lines might not just be effective enough to bring a policy change in Globacom. How many are willing to drop their glo lines that they've quoted in their several CVs submitted to companies for job? Lets deal with it Nationally as a matter of policy change.

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
St. Sola,
You must be a real Saint sent from heaven. I was not very interested in the topic until i read ur post. U gave the most incisive contribution on this page. Kudos to U.
Though i made a 2'1 in Engineering from FUTA, I am convinced that my ability surpasses that of most 1st class product in terms of technical ability and creativity. Same goes for 2"2 vs 2"1. I have met and competed with 2"2 graduates who held their own. They should be creating a level-playing ground when necessary. I am not always satisfied with some companies policy of rejecting application from 2"2 grad. I think it's high time people in authority looked into the issue as this will degenerate into a more unpalatable employment situation in our country.
( A friend once told me of a bros who works in PH for one of the top shot OIL firm with OLUWOLE arranged 2"1 after making a 3rd class, though he was equal to the task when tested and interviewed)
Don't try to do this as this was perpetrated some years ago when the 2"2/2"1 thing was not prominent.
Though highly rated companies in the UK require that u have a 2"1, an ample number of major industry still employ 2"2 graduates. So if a 2"2 cert is still welcome in a more developed economy like that of the UK, I wonder why Naija Industries desert it.
Now is the time for the fight!!!

F**K DEM
Hi Guys, I once presented a CV carryg a BSc, 2:2 and MSc from U.I, a student member of ICAN and AICRM and the employer's response was : If only you had a 2:1. My friends in the house, as far as this country is concerned, any firm that stand on this kangaroo policies, passes a message that I am too good for them and it is a wrong policy to stand on .
-
Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
I really do feel you. Am so fed up with the 2:2/2:1 policy. As was rightly said, it is a case to be fought from the Labour Ministry. But trust our beloved country..... NOTHING WILL/CAN BE DONE.
What about the age discrimination policy in some companies especially GTB, if you are above 25/26yrs old no employment for you.Imagine the rubbish! Do they even realize that our Academic year in the University is as epileptic as the power supply in Nigeria today? i bet they do not live in our world. I graduated from Ife, i spent 8yrs in all doing Law, which was only meant to be 5yrs thanks to ASSU and the incessant Student Union demonstrations and riots. One year masters programme, another one year in Law school and another damn year doing National Youth Service. My dear, tell me how i can manage to work in Gtb and the like with such policies.
I just believe we have lost it as a nation. There are no options. Everyone has to go to Uni, get employed and all that. What about those who want to be self employed? try setting up a business... the economy shows its red eyes, government policies come knocking at the door one way or another.
If this nation was a civilized one, by the time we organize a bouycourt of glo lines, something would be done. But here, no way! nobody is paying attention.
Abeg make we leave matter for Mathias!!

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
This country has nothing in store for we grads,so what are we saying? Government needs to do more in creating employment for its graduates or why is the government producing millions of graduates yearly, if it can't employ them. I never knew of Glo's policy of not employing 2:2 but if it's true, it means the company has failed millions of Nigerian Graduates that patronize their product. What are they giving us in return? Guys, Lets talk sense to the government, they have failed us and we have no trust in them any longer........ I am still proud to be a nigerian anyway, but something needs to be done. Pemox by name......

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
It is so sad that companies reject applicants who have have a 2.2 degree talkmore of those with a 3rd class a pass. The fact is that we do not have employment laws put in place and so every potential employer can afford to treat applicants like scum.
They can even afford to keep us waiting at interviews and test to test our endurance without any explanation.
There are a lot job related discrimination in this country which needs and has to be addressed. It is not always true that the person with a 1st class or 2.1 degree is more competent than his or her other counterparts. You sometimes wonder how certain graduates where able to graduate with flying colours after interacting with them.
As far as the age factor is concerned with all the problems one has to contend with before going to school and completing it, How many people actually graduate before some of the age limits specified by the organistions?
This is a matter that has to be addressed by all relevant authorities like the Nigerian Labour Congress, the ministry of Labour, The National assembly and any other concerned body.
On the issue of boycotting GLO, though I am not a subscriber, I do not think it is the best approach because there are a lot of similar organisation like it with their unfavourable policies. How many of these would you be boycotting?
The bottom line is we need employment laws which guide against discrimination, whether age, race, religious, ethnic or whatsoever in this country so that there is a check on organisational employment policies.

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
Now, if you switch to MTN or Celtel and they also come up with similar structures, you are likely to look for a nitel fixed phone, bah?
Let's re-organize our perception of the work environment. Having a 2.2 or third class is not the point, you may even find out that they are better candidates. Just keep trying, if Glo shut their doors, others are still open. By the time you work more and acquire more skills, that will serve as a better platform of consideration.
It is annoying though, but my brother, pls, go pick your line back, glo has nothing to lose from you.

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
Its realy disapointing, cus it apears that our so called Govt have disapointed the youths. paper qualification shouldnt and can never be the true test of ones knowledge, after all how many of the 2.1 candidates are able to make it to a very visible place in the nation, Adenuga should go and bury his face in the mud afterall wat did he finish with and his likes, we just pray that their children are able to even finish with a third class........God is never asleep but that does not mean that we shouldnt take our academic life very seriously....................... :

Re: Glo recruitment, check this out!
You see, i have read a lot of contributions on this thread and i must say its a bad situation for most of us. I did made a 2.1 but i know several students and frineds of mine who made 2.2 and who i regard as very good. However, i also know some of my friends with 2.2 who currently work with GLO; most of them girls anyway. But i want us to reach out to our brothers and sisters who are still in school, urging them to be studious. The labour market is not friendly at all and we will be doing a great deal if we educate them on the need to face their studies squarely. On my part, that is my candid advice to any undergraduate i coma across now. If i have a 2.1 and i still have to write tests which we know not who will mark, let alone the markers' state of mind and psychological balance at that point, woes betides any one who graduates with soemthing these employers dont wanna see. God is in control sha...
