Three people were feared dead after their car, a blue volkswagen Jetta salon car, marked PJ 132 KJA, plunged into the Lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, Monday night.
The occupants included the driver, a staff of West Com Wireless Company Limited, Lagos, and two other people suspected to be his friends.
They were said to be returning from a party on the Island before the car plunged into the lagoon at the Oworonshoki end of the bridge.
Lagos police spokesman, Mr Frank Mba, who confirmed the incident said the wreckage of the car was recovered by the Marine Police, who he said had been searching for it since the incident occured.
The body of a male occupant in the car was also recovered by the police while the driver, identified as 34-year-old Sunday Oloko and another occupant are still missing.
Mba further said that the police were making frantic efforts to trace the whereabout of the driver.
Narrating how the police got to know of the incident, he said that the Command received information on Monday of a fatal lone accident on the third mainland bridge and that since then efforts to recover the vehicle and its occupants had been on.
He advised drivers against recklessness during the last months of the year.
