HVAC CONTROLS SPECIALISTS

REQUIREMENTS:
HND, B.SC, B.ENG in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• Experience with field testing and commissioning of residential, commercial and industrial HVAC systems
The HVAC Controls specialist will be responsible for the maintenance of heating/air conditioning systems, identifying repair and /or replacement needs, providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment, and ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner. Desired technical expertise includes design, specification, testing of energy solutions for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. This results-driven position will be responsible for project management focused on HVAC systems designs for residential buildings for government and private sector clients. In addition, the candidate must be experienced at coordinating HVAC and air distribution system designs with architectural/structural designs to prevent conflict during construction. This position also requires the ability to train and coach both internal and external members of client’s team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, Configuration &Installation
• Design High Performance HVAC layouts that are fully integrated with other systems in residential, commercial and industrial construction.
• Provide guidance and insight toward the development of test plans, monitoring installations and data analysis of various residential, commercial and industrial HVAC systems
• Interpret blueprints, plans, and sketches, and estimate materials and/or equipment needed to correctly execute and complete every job/project
• Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in the geothermal heating and air conditioning system.
• Provide design direction toward the creation of an integrated HVAC design including all details and specifications
Communication Management
• Manage communications with external engineers, architect and construction management team members during the design process toward the design and engineering of integrated HVAC systems.
JOB DESCRIPTION-HVCA CONTROLS SPECIALIST
• Prepare documentation (e.g. records of refrigerants, daily paper work/log, time, and materials, specifications, etc.) in order to provide written support in compliance with regulations and/or conveying information
• Fabricate sheet and bench metals for the purpose of providing needed parts/materials and /or maintaining/repairing duct work and roof drainage systems
• Serve as a point of contact client related to the design and installation of high Performance HVAC systems
• Write and/or review technical reports related to HVAC systems and construction quality
Maintenance
• Inspect systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) to ensure safety, identify necessary repairs and provide an ongoing program of preventive maintenance.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensuring ongoing functioning of HVAC and refrigeration systems in an efficient manner.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC/geothermal equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coils.
• Conduct market research into new and alternative HVAC systems and distribution strategies.
Procurement
• Procure equipment and supplies, maintain inventory and ensure availability of required items
• Transport a variety of items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
Safety
• Operate tools and equipments according to established safety procedures
• Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
• Allow established procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing etc.
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any condition that is not correctable to manager immediately
Industry Knowledge
• Establish working knowledge of various equipment suppliers’ techniques
• Drive the technical due diligence from initial screen until turnover to the project management group for the implementation phase. This will involve identifying risks (i.e. technical, construction, price, schedule, environmental, warranties, performance guarantees etc.) indicate impact and how will be addressed and mitigated.
• Current practices, hand and power tools, equipment, materials, and supplies used in the heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning trade

Experience in prior project work in an industry required
• Ability to plan and manage the development of selected project opportunities and to direct the activities of in internal and external resources to achieve deadlines

EXPERIENCE:Three (3) plus years experience of industry related experience
