If i may quote the source(SPDC staff) statement during my discussion with him, he said "they are lokking for them (Bayelsa guys) becuase they are few that have attended the program and u know many of them previously are not too educated like the Deltans and Yorubas. well they may have more slot
So lets confirm, How many Bayelsa guys did u know that sat for the SRD with u? well God will surely help us all, lets trust him completely.
If I remember correctly, there was no Bayelsan guy in my group, Yorubas, Ibo, Edo, Middle Belt... but no Bayelsan. Could you pls confirm when they would start the next SITP programme? i would assume they have already completed this one since you said they would be graduating next week Thursday.
@dexter, i hope to confirm that soon,bc i want to arrange my schedule to meet up with their graduation party to chat with some of them and other SPDC staff who may give any info. The Venue is SITP Car park Edjeba Learning Village. Cheers
I am inclined to believe any Bayelsan with an average performance would most likely get an automatic slot. They were pitifully in the minority if I use my group as sample. Only 1 out of 8. The rest were Deltans. Same goes for abt 3 grps I know off.

The only bayelsa in my group was called for LGA/Community last Friday. I think there is something about those calls. They ensured we complete the community column during SRD
@all: U guys are not making easy for us. after reading tru a page's comment my heart went black, white, green, purple and red! Y cant we all stick to the 'white' only, when the result comes out then we will have the colours decided for us. Sum1 called us the 'special 11'. atleast that made me smile (momentarily, though, before I became more realistic). Not to worry sha! We go hear the news ( good or bad) and move on to the next step. I pray for all our success! One love!
Thats weird. When was ur SRD? I got the call but I honestly dont rmbr if I filled out any LGA info on the day of my SRD, its now all a blur to me. lol

Uhm.... News and speculations all over the place. Just for your info as well - a friend just told me that indigenes of Shell host communities are given some sort of special consideration, provided their performance at the SRD was at least not below average.
Can anyone confirm this?

If you're Ibo or Yoruba, you have to pray very very well.

@InGodITrust: Guy, which ones now? If they were interested in only Niger-Deltans then why did they invite everyone from every part of the country? May I remind you that some people used 'levo' to pass the first stage test but as far as I know you can't use that during your SRD. Shell too would have learned their lesson from the previous set (the ones before the guys graduating tomorrow) of which some did not make it through the 1-year SITP program. The story that we were told that once you've made it through to the SITP stage you are already a staff is not completely true, if you fail the program you will be fired and I am sure Shell knows better than wasting millions on people they would end up not employing.Quote:

If nothing is truly happening this week, I wonder how Shell hopes to meet up its proposal to start SITP by 1st week in September as was told some during SRD.
Yeah I agree with u guys. I am not a Nigerdeltan and I personally recvd a call b4 the recruitment started to apply for this SITP. I had dropped my cv at a recruitment fair last november. I made it this far not because I am Yoruba but becaused I passed the test and hopefully I will pass the SRD too. Shell may wind up recruitin more NDans but thats just logical isnt it. If reports r true n about 70% of SRD participants are from ND, then it only makes sense that if 50 are chosen, 35 of them MAY be from ND. quota/bias or no quota/bias.
Guys relax, enuf of quota or bias talk. Really! All of that was in the past. Now, its purely based on merit IMHO. N if one is not chosen, its not cos he doesnt hail from Warri, its cos he performed crappy at the SRD. Finito!

The earlier they make the verdict known the better one can prepare for the future whether successful or not.
see! those guys busy emphasizing on this niger-delta issue should stop! some of us like the little hope we can get and that issue is not helping matters! which wan be Niger-Deltans-special-consideration again? Well, I also heard there is a special concideration for the notherners, too (just kidding!)
