SRD Invitation

@dexter - these ones were called Lucky ones, because like one of the SITP said in his speech, about 10,000 wrote the aptitude text, few were chosen for the SRD and Very few of them scale though and are now gainfully employed after passing through a thorough training in a world class environment.

That story that they only take 10 or few of them is not true, Three {3} years ago that was the situation, but today a different story is being told, that is another reason why they said they are LUCKY. Their pay now my brother, my mouth is 2 heavy to say it,but believe me is too attractive, as some of them just finnished they have release their new cars and some are planning to rent accomodations, am telling u these just to show that they are staff already.

so now lets keep on praying,because many GOOD THINGS are also on the way for us. wish u all a nice weekend and Hopfully Good news should fill the house next week. CHEERS. xx

@all. Sincerely am not goin 2 allow shell 2 determine my happiness &enslave me again. Since after d SRD, i cant just think abt any other thing again. I check this thread mayb evry hr or 2. Seriously, I ve 2 free myself.there r 2 sides 2 a coin. I advise dat while we pray &hope, we also ve an open mind to receive any outcome. Lets get involved in other things. Expand ur job search. Let shell come as a surprise if we make it.

I wonder what is taking them so long. I hope they are aware that some people have to give 2 months notice before quiting.

Please house, can somebody who read industrial chemistry be eligible for SITP? I am planning to apply next year, so any advice is welcome.

@p4e,@dexter,@w999 and the other shell hopefuls-i want to say congratulations in advance.pls, i was unable to submit my cv online on shell website earlier this year, due to navigation problems.i plan to look out for next year's SITP,but i read industrial chemistry.do i have a chance? Pls any advice is welcome.

Who said it's going to be this week? Are you guys just hoping? Shell doesn't owe it to anybody to call us this week. They can call us January next year for all they friggin' care.

I just spoke with a friend of mine who works in shell (he happened to have passed out of SITP 2 yr ago) and he told me that his colleague who was an assessor said the standard that the HR used this year is really high.he was told that out of 8 people in a particular batch in warri only 1 was deemed to have qualified. So am guessing that's why they invited more people for the SRD.

Finally found time to go through the whole thread and boy is there info here? some conflicting but almost all useful. guys keep up the good work.

Well, loads of ppl are sayin this is the crunch week. I hav no intel to disprove or confirm this so Ill just say that we shud all continue to pray n hope for the best.....this week and evry week.

As regards stayin off this thread till Shell contacts us, Ive never been a serial poster on here, but Ive def been tryin to reduce the no of times I come on here to check out this thread. Mine is quite ridonculous! :D :P :-[ :-[

I think the coy is trying to meet up with 1st week in September and considering the fact that about 1-2weeks will be needed for medicals, no doubt the hour is fast approaching.

So I can go ahead and give my 1 month notice of resignation.

I have been following this thread since "positive thinker" initiated it when he got his interview invitation. Everybody is important..........or so they think. One man's space displaces another man because everybody cannot be called.
People that want to work in shell are not necessarily interested in the work but the life changing salary. That is why other people with jobs would not mind displacing the unemployed. This is a Nigerian attitude which is not so bad. When the results are out, there would be mixed feelings here. Some would say sorry to others, and some would stop commenting. Reliable info says it is coming out soon. No need for a high blood pressure because "what must be , must be".
Those that would be called should not bother to say it as this would make other people sad. Believe me, some people already have their place and all they are doing now is waiting for the official release. This is a norm in our society. Do not be discouraged (even though positive thinking can do little good as at now).
For those that would not be called, it is not the end of the world, especially for the unemployed. Sometimes what we want may not be God's plan for us. As i noticed also, a lot of people have gone religious on the matter. Probably God wants those people to know him better.
Congratulations in advance to the successful. Do not forget to give thanks and do some charity also.

This week won't be bad timing. Congrats to all successful candidates.

@aized35, ur missive cldnt have been more timely and encouraging. I'd only be cautious to advice hopefuls to adopt a fatalistic mindset. After all we've had ppl who were sent rejection mails after test being called for SRD later... The calls may come this week or end of month, but be rest assured, it will definitely come. Keep hope alive.

@ kente 101: I really like your write up; a lot of it corresponds to the way I view things but I will have to disagree on one point.

No job is made for anyone, neither is anyone in this life for anyone else. There is nothing 'Nigerian' about aspiring to something greater ( in relation to one person leaving one job for another) as it may well be within one's career goal to gain experience through different companies. Shell on the other hand did not make SITP for the unemployed, they made it for the most capable and if these guys happen to be already gainfully employed, so be it.

And finally, I don't know how much non-Nigerian working experience you have, but money is ALWAYS considered worldwide when making job choices. If not, we might as well just work for free eh?

@franco4christ. i had to break my silence 4 ur sake. i wonder y evrybdy ignored ur enquiry. application 4 SITP usually come up around Feb, mar, april. i applied April 1st to be precise. i think this year's appl closed mid-april. presently, u cant apply now. till next year, just follow naijahotjobs as from january next year. u wil get d info wen it is out. applying for SITP goes beyond uploading ur CV. u need to register online, and then u need to APPLY for local opportunities (technical graduate). u asked if u r qualified as an industrial chemist. though shell usually prefers engineers and geo-scientist, try ur luck. am 99.99% sure if u apply and ve a 2.1, u wil be called 4 SITP test. and if u do well, u wil be called 4 SRD along with chem engrs. i know of a person who read quantity surveying and was called for SRD long with civil engrs. dont allow ur course of study 2 be a stumbling block to your progress. be determined and sure, i know u will be there next year!

@all. i ve always empahized this: dont be narrow-minded about this SITP stuff. be prepared for either success r failure. tho i pray HARD to succeed, I will not die if i am not successful. Shell is made for man, not man for Shell.

The truth is, this SRD was the most competitive ever. Not because the partcipants were exceptional, but because the required number from the bunch is way lower than usual, 45 or thereabout. This is the major reason why the succesful candidates have not been contacted yet. also the learning village has to be certified to be in g

Variety of reliable sources. The number was from the SRD co-ordinator on my day, and the fact it is more competitive from a reliable internal source. The fact the SRD learning village needs to be in good condition from a graduating member and the house. All in all, i hope they can complete this thing quick and not drag on like the last mobil recruitment.
I believe everyone who rightfully got to the SRD has the innate capabilty to survive this Nigerian job market and make a success not withstandng the outcome of the SRD.

@ lookingforward: if that is the case then Shell has just complicated matters for itself by inviting those '11 guys' for the SRD. I am not disputing your source, just a food-for-thought.

I wonder where u guys got the info abt the "1 guys". I got info that SRD ran in PH for abt 2 weeks. I doubt if that wld be for just "11 guys".

This is my first post on this thread and below is my opinion.

Shell has some projects (new and ongoing) requiring near-zero downtime for optimum profitability. The worst human cause of downtime is host-community unrest hence Shell's decision to recruit more SITP from its major host states. I feel Shell is currently facing two challenges:
1. Most of the people invited for the SRD probably didnt meet the benchmark.
2. Most of the people who met the benchmark are not from the host communities (I didnt say host states)

Shell probably called some SRD attendees (those that fall into category 1 above) to ask for their community of origin just to find out if they can be considered.

The people who later attended the SRD in PHC were probably called because of the low success rate of the host community candidates. Some people may argue that some of the last minute invitees were non-Niger Deltans. True! But I see that as a distractive ploy meant to water down speculations from certain quarters.

Me: when will SRD result be out, Sir?
Bernard: END OF THE MONTH.
Me: When the will the SITP for this year Start?
Bernard: Definitely last Quarter of the yr.
Me: Precisely when, Sir?
Bernard: Hopefully October.

this thing is turning into another thing entirely.
pls those with other informed sources should pls dig deeper for alternate info.
