    Fraud Disclaimer/Warning

Airtel Nigeria wishes to draw the attention of our subscribers and members of the general public to the prevalence of fraudulent activity being perpetuated by fraudsters who aim to deceive and defraud our subscribers and the general public.
These fraudsters design purported promotions hinged on promises of subscribers or members of the general public winning cash, free airtime or other prizes or gifts, employment or job recruitment or other fantastic or incredulous schemes. Their fraudulent activity seems to be mainly with the objective of obtaining money by tricks or false pretences from subscribers or innocent members of the general public.
Vehicles for such fraudulent activity include unsolicited text messages, electronic mail or other correspondence to subscribers or the general public. These messages would usually emanate from bogus websites, email addresses and phone numbers used by these fraudsters for their nefarious and fraudulent activity and it is not unusual that such communication would utilize forged paraphernalia as logos, names of Airtel Nigeria officials and official language in a bid to exude some authenticity (some illustrations of the fraudulent activity flowing from Airtel Nigeria’s experiences are provided at the end of this message). The paraphernalia including mail and contact addresses and phone numbers contained in such unsolicited emails and posted on such web-sites or published in any manner whatsoever are bogus, forged and not related to Airtel Nigeria.
Airtel Nigeria disassociates itself entirely from any of the emails and web-sites described above. Airtel Nigeria hereby disclaims all such correspondence and messages and warns its subscribers and the general public to disregard such and to exercise extreme caution at all times. Airtel Nigeria has a Fraud management Unit which investigates all reported cases of fraudulent or attempted fraudulent activity. The Fraud management Unit can be reached on the fraud hotline- 070800fraud (07080037283) or email [email protected]. Airtel Nigeria will not be liable for any losses, damages or injury occasioned to subscribers or the general public as a result of responding to fraudulent notification of winnings, employment offers or other scamming activity.
Information on Airtel Nigeria can be freely obtained at our website www.Airtel.com. This is not limited to employment, promotional and other company information. Please report any fraudulent activity to the law enforcement agents in your country and also forward a mail to [email protected], the email address for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria.
Please feel free to advise friends and relatives of these scamming methods and always feel free to contact us if you suspect any other fraudulent activity
For the abundance of caution, subscribers and the general public should not respond to unsolicited offers from persons unknown, should not disclose personal or financial details to persons unknown, where applicable, should contact the Nigerian Embassy in their countries for due diligence inquiries, should refer such bogus/doubtful mails/correspondence to their country's Embassy/High Commission in Nigeria for investigation.
Finally, for more information in public domain, please visit the sites below to learn more of this fraudulent activity:-

    TEXT MESSAGING SCAM
Usually, subscribers receive text messages purportedly from Airtel Nigeria informing them of their success in a Airtel Nigeria promotion. They are requested to claim cash or other gifts/prizes by contacting a phone/number. The receiving party for the number is an integral part of the scam/fraud. Please note, this illustration is not exhaustive of scamming situations that may be concocted.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT Airtel, IN THE CONDUCT OF ITS PROMOTIONS WILL NOT AT ANY TIME MAKE THE REDEMPTION OF A PRIZE WIN DEPENDENT ON THE PAYMENT OF MONEY / THE TRANSFER OF CREDIT BY THE SUBSCRIBER.
    EMPLOYMENT OR JOB OPPORTUNITY SCAM
This scam usually is manifested when a scammer invites (usually by unsolicited email or other correspondence) an applicant or job seeker to make contact with the scammer or a person connected with the scammer as the first step in securing employment with Airtel Nigeria. Inevitably, the applicant/job seeker would be required to pay some fee(s) whether by advance payment or otherwise, in a bid to fulfil the requirements to enter into employment with Airtel Nigeria including without limitation, processing fees for work, residence permits in Nigeria. There might be a promise of reimbursement of this money to the applicant or job seeker.
There are occasions where a website is established or electronic mails are deployed by the scammer inviting members of the general public to post their curriculum vitaes and promising jobs with Airtel Nigeria or with the Airtel group upon receipt of the curriculum vitae and payment of a fee.
Please note, the above illustrations are not exhaustive of scamming situations that may be concocted.
