Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
My Brother. This idea is very laudable, but will not work as we are very very selfish people. Once this 2nd list comes out , the number of people will shrink. Quote:

Without wasting our time, I want to brief us on what I had been brainstorming on, as regards to how we can still make it even bigger with or without NNPC job and the likes. Please I urge all of you reading this to please read it with a positive mental attitude and not with negative mindset, so that we can achieve greatness that I am foreseeing already.
I believe God has a purpose for everything that happens in this life, and maybe the purpose for this recruitment, the delay, the thread, etc is gradually coming to a joyful manifestation, how? Please read on.
From the number of views and comments we already have on this thread, I want to believe that we have not less than 1000 youths hoping and waiting for this NNPC job plus another huge number who didn’t applied or weren’t eligible or missed out for one reason or the other, which means we should be having not less than 2000 youths out there with no job or under-employed with unhealthy welfare and working packages. Haven made this clear, the question now is: WHAT CAN WE DO JOINTLY TO UPLIFT OURSELVES AND TO CREATE A STRONG UNITED PLATFORM TO MAKE US USEFUL AND GAINFULLY EMPLOYED YOUTHS WITH GREAT FUTURE? My own answer to the above question lies in the next few paragraphs to come.
I have an idea. My idea is for us to form a united group of companies to render services to this nation and beyond, how? I am proposing a united company with the name: United Nigerian Graduate Youths Workforce (UNGYW) or United Graduates of Nigeria Group.
Within this group of companies, we will have at least four independent companies based on service sector.
1. Greenland Engineers & Technicians Co. Ltd
This very company will unite all engineering graduates- B.sc, B.Eng, HND, and maybe OND holders. We will have welders, mechanics, electricians, etc coming together to form a strong, determined and focused engineering company rendering great engineering and technical services to Nigerians and beyond in the oil and gas sector, construction, manufacturing, etc sectors. We will deliberate more on how to structure it so we can achieve greatness and success for all. Don’t forget that we will have our management folks with us to manage things, so the accountants, managers, marketers, etc will come in here.
2. Greenland Entertainment Co. Ltd
This very company will unite all talented Nigerian graduates in areas of juju, hip hop, high life, rap, etc music, and maybe with an expansion in movie making that is different from NOLLYWOOD style and standard. Through this, we will hunt for talents, sponsor them, produce and market them on an agreed percentage. We may even end up having our own version of talent hunt program like MTN project fame and the rest of them, and then look for sponsors.
3. Greenland Employers Co Ltd
This company will focus on recruiting talented Nigerian youth graduates for other organizations. The aim will be for recruitment consulting, etc.
What do you guys think about my proposal? I believe strongly that if we can jointly pull our meager resources together, say 20,000naira multiplied by 1000, just guess how much we will be having to start up, but with 20,000naira as an individual, we cannot go anywhere. So let’s deliberate on this. This proposal is irrespective of second batch or not…it will continue whether second batch or not, I am in for it…let’s hear your opinions. Thank you all for your attention.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@Kalokalo, lets be positive about it & hear others out. Remember, 120k plus people applied for NNPC job in 2010, 44k were invited for test, 4k made it to interview stage, 500 got the offer so far, so are you saying that all the 4k applicants will be offered the job when the awaiting 2nd batch comes out? For sure if it does come out, not all will be offered employment, & those that didn't get he job must live on, they must succeed, they must seek for greatness whether with NNPC or not, so this is a great avenue for us all to unite for greatness & to beat this present unemployment & even surprise the govt. & employers that we Nigerian youths can survive with or without them. Remember partnership is the only Nigerians can overcome this present unemployment in the nation. If most one-man business we have in Nigeria today did pulled themselves together as one, they would have been waxing bigger than they are as one-man business, but instead tom will open a small welding shop, opens his own carpentry workshop, james opens a panel beating place, etc & at the end they cannot compete well in the field. we need to partner for greatness my fellow youths. lets be positive about this pls.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
I have been following this thread since September last year but today marks the first time I'm commenting. It is a pity I will be commenting on a very sad note based on the information I just got some few minutes ago from the person that assisted me in checking up my name when the list was out the other time.
What she told me actually confirmed some of what was insinuated on this thread at one point to the other. She said based on what an aunty of hers who works in HR said, before the eventual list consisting of the 595 pple that were called, there had been 3 other list prior to that with each of those generating serious issues among the top management staff.
I will be dropping the criteria she said was used in each of the 3 ealier list and the eventual 4th one with the 595 that were called in my subsequent post.
Each of my post from now henceforth will highlight the criteria per each list and at the end I will be given out my own personal experience on this recruitment.

Note that all what I will be reeling out will be based on the information my source got from the aunty of hers who works in the HR @ the towers.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
Jobfront. I agree with you. I am only pointing some hurdles you need to overcome in this quest. Once they are overcome, eureka. The reason I said so is based on black man mentality. You hardly see a Nigerian Business outliving its founder for at least 3 generations, mention one. We only like family businesses , father -son businesses. Dangote is not yet dead and constitute a very key man risk. This was why London Stock exhange told him to water down his holdings before approaching them. NBL, Guiness , Cadbury, Nestle etc are not Nigerian companies. 2. OBJ in 2004 tried this model, with all his executive might and the calibre of all brought plus the millions of shares sold , what happened to transcorp? many pulled immediately OBJ left office. I am not discouraging anybody. I for a person, would prefer a 2/3 man project that is workable. We are very selfish, that is the truth. Developed countries show a lot of altruism Quote:

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
THE FIRST LIST.
About 800 names made the list from those submitted by presidency, senate president, the speaker of HOR, top members in the national assembly, top personalities in the country and some top management staff of the corporation while the remaining 200 names were taken from those that attended the interview(i.e clearly on merit base without any favour or connection).
She said; the list generated a lot of fuss among the board members as some of them felt the list was being compromised. Thereby raising question on why merit could be relegated to the barest minimum thus demanding for a very higher percentage of people on merit, thus the end of that very list.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@Modsquad...remember, transcorp & the likes didn't have viable business & vision, they were mere politically-inspired venture. Plus ours if given a chance, will be youth-driven, and you know what youths can do when they unite as one? The problem with transcorp & the likes was management, but in this one I am proposing, it will pioneered by ambitious & purpose-driven youths, who are thirsty for success & fairness & not by corrupt-minded & selfish old men looking for a way to achieve their political fraud. I still believe strongly that this will succeed if & only if we give it a chance. We mustn't be too desperate about this NNPC job as if without it our lives are doomed, Noooooooooo. I don't want to repeat myself over & over, we need to forge ahead & let God decide the next step in NNPC recruitment even though I see an end to it already...because in Nigeria, we always believe things must work out for everyone even when we know & see the truth. Remember, when Argentina won Nigeria in USA 1994, Nigerians started carrying rumor that the match has been cancelled becos Maradona tested ve to drug after the match, but did it happened? We Nigerians have a way of believing things just to keep our hopes alive, but we must let go of this NNPC thing & let it be as it has been destined to be, for God alone knows the best, but then we cannot allow our lives to rot in idleness becos NNPC or any other co. didn't offer us employment. Let me tell you, our not being able to make it to the final list of NNPC employment doesn't necessarily mean we are not good or that those that made it are better than us, if you believe so, then I don't cos I know very well by God's grace that I am very good in all ways you can think of, but God knows why my name wasn't on that first list. so guys think out of the box & lets see what we can do....if we keep listening to people telling us this & that they heard from a staff who knew the GMD, who knew the minister's daughter who is a friend to president's auntie's uncle's friend...lets face our life...what next without NNPC???

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
THE SECOND LIST PRESENTED.
- A larger percentage still came from the favoured list in the 1st list.
- On the merit list:
* A high number of people that made the list were people with degrees from foreign institutions.
* A high number were people with degree from private universities within the country.
* A lower number were people with degrees and certificates from the country public institutions.
On presentation to the board, some board members antagonised the list based on the higher number of favoured peope and the higher number of people with foreign degrees, thus questioning the rationale for that and arguing why foreign degree holders should be given so much edge over those with indiginous degrees and certificates.
She said with all those issues raised the board members rejected that very list.
THE THIRD LIST PRESENTED.
This was the very list she said was approved based on a very higher degree of merit( 80 to 85 percentage). This list she said actually took care some of the objections raised on the two ealier post.
On the list, according to her, there are people who made the list through the presidency that do not even write the test or attend the interview at all in the EH cadre of which a colleague of OURS in my present office is a beneficiary.
This colleague of mine is from bayelsa and actually participated in the Neighbour to Neighbour group for the Jonathan presidential campaign in the last general election.
After she told me all these ealier this morning when I saw her in the office all I could do is to just offer a prayer for my dearest NATION to be given the LEADERS that will run the affairs of this country in the most honest way possible and pleasing to Almighty God.
I WEPT FOR MY COUNTRY, NIGERIA.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
It is well.well'nt it?lol.
-
Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
From those initial posts you could all deduce that the total number of people initially being target for recruitment is about 1000 people.
According to what she said, 595 people may have been called now but I should be rest assured that the remaining 400+ people will still be filled up at the end of the day. This much, she said the aunty of hers is dead sure about.
According to her some people might still called on merit base to fill up this 400+ list but a VERY higher percentage of it shall be of favoured/well connected people.
To all those still believing in God for a miracle, keep your hope alive.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
That is what I hate most in my life. Why for God sake is such person not invited for the interview. i don't like hearing of people that never participate in the recruitment but are having letters.

@Zigbo, most of the points I raised in all those post of mine had been raised on this thread at some point in the past if you happened to have been following the thread like myself since last year. As of then, I didn't believe all those things cos I termed them has been rumours until this morning when the lady in question told me all what she knew about the recruitment( based on info from the aunty of hers) and every, every just matched up with most of the info that had been put across on the thread in the past.
Mind you, there is high degree of merit on the 595-people list cos this much I can attest to.
There were nine of us young chaps that went for the test from my office, eight applied for GT while I'm the only OP cos I hold HND certificate in Elect/Elect Engr(DISTINCTION).
Five of us made it to the interview stage and I can bet as GOD is my witness none of us get no connection whatsoever.
Eventually, two of us were among the 595 being called. The same lady was the one that assisted in checking up our names and it was only those two made it. Both are GT, one is from Taraba state while the other is from delta state.

@Jobfront. You really put some time to write this. Good job! I am very convinced that this thread won't just go away, there have been a lot of stuff emerging from this thread but the big one is yet to come. My thinking is that, since we are all located in different places and it may not be realistic to start any venture that may require our physical presence. I am sure there are several great services we can render via the internet and mobile phones since we all have these. Alternatively,we can go ahead with your idea by incorporating a company and appointing trusted principal officers who will hire employees, while we as shareholders and directors provide all needed support and control. The story behind this company could generate a lot of government and public sympathy and favour, which could translate to a huge success. Shalom.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@ Jajamark, you are one of those great minds that I respected so much on this thread ever since have been reading through.
Unlike some peeps who felt people still coming to this thread have nothing doing without knowing that might not truly be the case.
In my case for instance, I work presently @ one the Federal govt. Agency in Abuja with an averagely good pay but still opted to go to NNPC bcos of the high level of REDUNDANCY in most federal establishment. Imagine going to work from 8:30 to 5:00 everyday with little or nothing to do all the way from monday through friday.
My bro, it is career killing. I was even questioned on this during the interview by the panelist on why I really want to leave my present agency for them with all the prestige the agancy has; of which I told them, career wise I am not growing at all because I got little or nothing doing for the past two years that I have been there.
But, on a more lighter note, the struggle continues. This is the more reason I've kept on attending tests and interviews with the likes of Shell, Chevron and all other multinational companies out there. I believe with Gods' favour and grace, I will surely get there on day career wise.
Shout outs to the following peeps in the house as well: KALOKALO, SURJ, MUSTY4U, MOSSQUAD, ETHNAN, TERRACO, BB1 and host of other great minds on this thread.
I have really gained a lot from great minds through their different life experiences being shared here, ONE LOVE MY PEOPLE.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
My Brother, I have reviewed all your posts and found that the following
- You are a very serious minded person.
- You are a very meticulous and detailed person
- You are structured and focussed for the points.
- Very brilliant mind too.
- Very few young men these like work; they want to earn and play around.
My prayer is, may God bless you. The great young men in this forum make it thick. Nigeria is blessed.
However, we are suffering from Dutch disease. Only 2 countries escaped this disease, Canada and Norway. Why, selflessness was the key. Including me, we have grab, grab mentality.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
We realy thank God for a person like Parosho who had given us what realy happened. I had said it b4 here that not all the 1st batch were on merit, see what had happened. Candidates from Presidency, who had 2 masters from abroad,no matter their number, took places of many merit who are yet to be called. We have not seen the end of this recruitment until another batch is called by God's garce.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
A friend who entered NNPC 2006/07 said some people came to join them in training after induction, some people will be called soon I tell you, just lets keep on praying for God's favor, prepare to join them in training any time u are call. All the best.
-
Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
I have missed/postponed like 3 trainings in my new organisation because of tight work deadlines. Some of them I will be rescheduled later in the year.
Training is what foreign multinationals take so seriously that Nigerian banks do not. In the bank it is catch a lion with bare hands syndrome.
I hope NNPC still take trainings seriously. Somebody did an analysis and concluded that oil and gas workers do not work more than 9 months in a year at the highest.
Their leave days is almost 2 months, then trainings. They work at most 9 months in a year. And you say I won't be in such an industry?
So help me God!

@Parosho. A shout out to you too. Thanks for d info on d recruitment, and the time you put on it,but I hope the details of the source of the info provided won't put your aunty at a great risk. These are classified info. To the house :Keep believing beyond NNPC, for with God nothing shall be impossible. Nisi Dominus Frustra. Shalom.

@Jajamark. I have particularly been moved with the spirit of faith that pervades ur write up these days. Such faith don't fail. Keep hard at it. Faith sees nothing else but possibilities. Faith sees not the problems but the opportunities. He that rewards faith is watching. Yes I just saw it in the spirit, many will still be called, now I really believe it , but prayers ,and faith can change a lot for someone in this forum cos a lot of lobbying and manipulations are currently going on. Faith and prayers can keep someone's name in the list. Shalom.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@Ethnan: i salute u sir. U are right on point. The 2nd list had bin under extra pressure since the first came out. As at last week, i was told some names were swapped. This i'm sure about. Instead of people praying for God's favour, many are still doubting weda there is a second list or not. I had posted time with out number about the existence of anoda list, yet many wont believe. Its well. If God said u will get ur letter in this recruitment, then ur faith in His word had already guaranteed ur slot. Gud 9ite

@Parosho: well done. That was a good one and d correct one too. I Just pray d current pressure from the big shots won't rob many again of this opportunity. I don't have a godfather but I have God, The Father, to speak for me. It is well with the redeemed!

Their leave days is almost 2 months, then trainings. They work at most 9 months in a year. And you say I won't be in such an industry?
So help me God!
Boss, except for management staffs, NNPC staff training are poorly organized. Sure, d leave schedule mks d annual workin period to b abt 9months.
