Ethnan, you are blessed. What I can only say is, this is just your stepping stone. You will not spend long time there. Oil & Gas is so tough to enter without experience in that industry is not like bank. This is best decision you have taken, leave banks, bankers are endangered species currently, in fact some landlords no longer their houses to bankers in Lagos. This is to correct yourself, with 2/3 years your real value will come out like diamond that is fully refined/polished.
I like what JajaMark is doing. And God will bless him. Some Engineering Graduates that started with very very poor paying oil servicing companies, today they are in Chevron, Shell, and Mobil. There is dearth of manpower in the Oil and gas. If Jajamark starts a Drilling Engineer with say Drillog, in next 5 years if Mobil wants experienced drilling Engineer, they would come for jajamark.
Father, son, daughter can all work in same Govt office, there is no law banning it, even FBN and Union bank still do it. Many people worked as father and son in NPA and still working.
Nigeria is gifted, advertise for 2,000 truck drivers in Sweden, you might not get up to 50, but here you can get 10 drivers attached to a truck. Someone beat me to this argument in feb this year.
I have said it here without numbers, if you people are talking of test –fine (very objective). There is a lot of subjectivity in interview. You don’t know what the panellist are looking for beyond knowledge and I leant there was a marathon psychometric forms that you all filled before the presentation and interview.
I have been on an interview panel, I can tell. You need God’s favour honestly. You might answer questions very well and bold and 2 people on the panel might say, that guy is pompous and arrogant. That brings you down in a very tight competition. I gave example with mine way, they said I argue too much. My mentor told that I have to learn from that experience and that experience has shaped me greatly till date.
Honestly, I want this 2nd batch, because many people’s cases here have touched me and I am even getting emotional about them. Even at that not all here, will make it. This is the reality of life. JFK Kennedy, in the 60’s said “Life is unfair”. Why do some people have to be born into wealth/Royalty while some into poverty? Prince Charles is born into royalty and did not need to work for it.
some of d guys wil work in nnpc mega stations says GGMD. Are they going to train on pump handling?
While All the managers of nnpc mega stations are ppmc staff, the pump handlers are not staff.that is how it works.
i find dos 2work in d mega stations r d non engineering GT n EH.posibly finance,logistics,busines related etc.
Hello house,it has been some days now since i visited this thread. The reason is that i discovered the impossibility of the so called 2nd batch.Let us be realistic to ourselves pls.GMD's speach this morning attested to no more list is coming in connection to this recruitment.Even though iam,but i feel somehow whenever i remember some of this thread members that are not with us.
@ModsquadThanks for not signing-Off.
People just believe that Nigeria cannot change –hence there feeling that thosecalled may have influenced their employment.
They should have noticed especially in GT that almost allcalled where 1st class graduates!
Even a jr colleague that rejected the offer is a very skilledchap with 1st class in electrical!
Bon weekned amie....
Yeah lets agree there wont be a second batch, what will happen to the slots of those that rejecetd the offer? Will it be filled? How? Merit or in-house?
@Ethan please I sent you a PM and your quick response will be appreciated
too.danbaura reportin directly 4rm towers.@danbaura,pls r u sayin d GMD said in his words dat there wil b no 2nd list OR al has bin recruited.abi u wea just guesin 4rm his speech.pls report ASAP.
The great Modsquad, (this your name,I too like the squad inside),thanks so much for those words of encouragement. Jajamark is sure taking a wise step many of us can emulate, for those who earnestly want to work in the oil and gas sector. Apart from that, every street of Nigeria is lined with golden opportunities, that one can turn to millions of naira.
May the dreams of all hopefuls come true,2nd batch or no 2nd batch. With God all things are possible. Shalom.
kalokalo, dat almost 50 slots go reach us by his grace.just calm down.
NNPC pledges to abide by FOI
Act AUGUST 10, 2012 BY AGENCY
REPORTER LEAVE A COMMENT The Management of the
Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation on Friday dispelled
insinuations that it was not
bound by the Freedom of
Information Act and pledged improved transparency in its
activities.
NNPC Group Managing Director,
Mr. Andrew Yakubu, made the
clarification in Abuja at the
induction ceremony for the 595 new members of staff, the
News Agency of Nigeria
reports.
A national newspaper, Daily
Trust, had recently quoted
NNPC Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, Tony Madichie, as
saying that the corporation
was not bound by the FOI Act.
Responding to an FOI request
by Daily Trust, via a letter dated
July 17, 2012 with reference number CSLD.1099, Madichie
said NNPC was not bound by
the provisions of the Act as a
“statutory corporation,” by
virtue of section 31 of the FOI
Act. But Yakubu said the NNPC,
since the signing of the FOI Act
in 2011, had stepped up its
transparency and
accountability processes and
positioned itself for public scrutiny.
He maintained that the
recruitment exercise that
produced the new members of
staff was painstakingly carried
out in line with the Federal character principle.
“I wish to restate that the 2010
recruitment exercise which
ultimately led to today’s
induction ceremony stands as
one of the most painstaking and transparent recruitment
exercise ever conducted in the
history of the corporation.
“In line with the Federal
Character Commission’s
requirements, Management engaged the Commission for
vetting of the recruitment
exercise.
“After a series of interface, the
commission issued a
Certificate of Compliance to NNPC thus bringing the
exercise to a successful close,”
he said.
He charged the new members
of staff to be diligent and
professional in their duties and key into the transformation
drive so as to fast track the
repositioning of the
Corporation in line with
international best practice.
He said NNPC was pursuing an aggressive expansion of its
operations both in the
upstream and downstream
sectors so as to boost the
economy of the nation.
“As at the last count, the NNPC had increased its number of
retail outlets and affiliate
filling stations from 30 to over
500, increasing its share to
over 16.13 per cent,” he said.
The NNPC 2010 recruitment exercise had been blighted
with lots of controversies
bordering on favouritism and
non compliance with the
Federal character principle.
some rejected dat ofa bcus of people like us n we wil surely fil it 4dem.just bliv n u wil b caled 2towers.induction made easy.no plenty line 4 documentation.just small people 2b atended 2.even d breadfast n lunch go 2 plenty n den we muslims no dey fast.we go eat n remain.everytin go dey go jeje.just bliv guys n it wil b.i bliv som of us go join dem at ease

wea is bb1 n terraco,we nid info pls.
Did GMD say there would no be 2nd batch in the induction or that was ur deduction? Pls get things right my brother. Apart from the unfillled slots, NNPC made provisions for more than 595 people, with the work on ground? Pls verify your source very well. I guess that anyone who did not register b4 induction automatically lost the job expect on health condition.By god's grace more GTs/OPs will soon be called and resumed with the EHs, that was the reason the 1st induction was done now, it would been next week Friday.
Wat info do u nid again. We can be gr8 wtout nnpc.Guys let move on.
@bb1. Please are you saying that another set will be called on Friday? Because if new people are called and are to resume with the EHs, that is less than a month notice to give to present employers. All these comments from the towers, especially GMD's speech of today does not really indicate any 2nd batch. I know u r very credible and reliable, please verify from your source to shed more light on the issue. God Bless U and happy weekend to all. cheers
A lot of factors would have caused those who rejected the offers, beta jos, overseas, and others. At least those slots will be filled and that was the reason the induction came ealier, it would ve been next week when the 2weeks are completed.By God's garce 2nd batch is coming out, we might not able to know the num but it is coming out, I still confirmed yesterday from ANOTHER reliable source. May God counts us worthy.
I still confirmed from reliable source ystady unless they decieve us which this person couldn't.The GMD did not say another batch would not be realeased, it was impression of the new inductees. That was the reason the induction was sone this 1st week, it would ve been next week. U know 2nd batch, it always be rush, rush even in admission, even NNPC can give 2weeks notice if u like u no accept it bcos it is GTs/OPs.Just go and join them in Delta and be collecting ur salaries, so what else? All the best.
@bb1 i applaud ur effort tryg 2 get info.
Let leave evry thg in d hands of God n stp all these permutatns.May b God has beta plans 4 us
Walahi,I dey go prepare for next recruitment.ma Msc nd some professional certifications will do.Am not sad any more cos I wasn't called.I have takn it as a challenge nd come nxt recruitment,I shall be smokee.Since a storng 2.1(GPA of 4.39) is not enof to get me an appointment with the NNPC,I have to go add more feathers to ma wings. Its not too late.I ve jst spent a year and half after NYSC(2010).Even though I am gainfully employed nw I will nt stop until I get into the oil and gas sector.May God help me,amen
stop decieving yourselves men.Better be doing something woo.I told you my own.
The GMD gave the history of the recruitment right from advert, applict, shortlist, exam and intervie.giving number and percentage of candidts at each level. There was no sign of bringing out more names at all.Iam not guessing infact i was truly there-i was among the group that was asked to vaccate the yellow chairs for the press-those present can verify that.Iam in batch H going 4 my medicals on thursday along side with batch k.
It is never my happiness to see my fellow hoping 4 something that is does not exist.you guys should better think of something different or wait for another exercise.but do not fold arms waiting 4 nnpc.Pls find something to do,as time is very precious. The truth is bitterg
NNPC makes U-turn on FOI, promises transparency
Premium Times

Idris Akinbajo with Agency reports
The Nigerian National Petroleum Commission, which initially claimed that it was not bound by the Freedom of Information law, has made a U-turn, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The NNPC had in a letter dated July 17 and signed by its Legal Adviser refused an FOI application by a national daily saying it is “not bound by the provision of the act”.
Senior lawyers, human right activists, and civil society groups, as reported by PREMIUM TIMES, condemned the NNPC for its position on the FOI; with Itse Sagay, a Professor of Law, describing the commission’s position as “ignorant.”
The official position by the NNPC was however contradicted by the commission’s head and Group Managing Director, Andrew Yakubu.
Mr. Yakubu, while speaking at the induction ceremony for the 595 new members of staff said his commission is open to transparency.
“I want to use this opportunity to address some concerns raised in some quarters about our attitude toward transparency and accountability,” Mr. Yakubu stated.
“We uphold these ideals in all our operations.”
The NNPC boss said that “long before the Freedom of Information Act came into force, the NNPC had always maintained an open door policy”.
Part of the ways the commission acts transparently, according to Mr. Yakubu, is by “volunteering information to its public through press releases, advertorials and presentations at different forums including at the National assembly”.
However, the NNPC boss failed to denounce or reject the official letter written by his commission; nor did he state the commission’s willingness to honour the FOI request of the Daily Trust Newspapers.
The FOI request, by the media, bordered on the recent recruitment carried out by the NNPC, amidst alleged violations of the Federal Character principle.
We obeyed Federal Character
Mr. Yakubu stated that his commission complied with the principle of the Federal Character Commission in the recruitment of new staff.
“I wish to restate that the 2010 recruitment exercise which ultimately led to today’s induction ceremony stands as one of the most painstaking and transparent recruitment exercise ever conducted in the history of the corporation,” he said.
The NNPC boss said that “in line with the Federal Character Commission’s requirements, Management (of NNPC) engaged the Commission for vetting of the recruitment exercise”.
“After a series of interface, the commission issued a Certificate of Compliance to NNPC thus bringing the exercise to a successful close,’’ he said.
Mr. Yakubu also said his commission is rapidly expanding it services in the upstream and downstream sectors.
“As at the last count, the NNPC had increased its number of retail outlets and affiliate filling stations from 30 to over 500, increasing its share to over 16.13 per cent,’’ he said.
Excuse me all. I beg to differ with a lot of you including the GMD on the fairness of the process. There is nothing anyone would post here and people will agree with that changes the fact that there were name swapping in the final list. You know we also have a way of tagging along with anything that comes our way and accepting it as the best. I dont mind being a one man standing alone in stating what i know. Like I had said you cant even expect anything better from a corrupt society. It may be the best they can offer but it is not good enough. With all the indictment on the organisation are you people telling me that they would be fair when it comes to recruitment only?
What happened in the recruitment is an extension of what happens in the society anyway but I dont agree it is fair and anybody believing that is only deceiving himself. Not that if i had someone to help me, I would turn down the offer but it does not change the fact that it was not in any way fair.
Danbaura we will know between God and GMD who is saying the truth regarding 2nd batch issue, but remember people said b4 that process was cancell and i said that is a liar bcos God never say so, bcos i know that no great thing that will happen without he God revealing it to his people. Moreover NNPC do recruit people allmost every blessed month, therefore GMD not saying there is 2nd batch is not an issue to me.
How will they fill the vacant slots? Merit or in-house? Will they use it to compensate the aggrieved staff whose candidate could not get in with the first list? Or will they consider merit and give people who have no Godfather a chance?
You may be right. maybe someones name was swapped with yours that is why you were invited for interview. What goes around comes around. Seriously quit whining and move on my friend. Bitterness will not help you. Rooms are being created in NNPC every now and then but at the rate you are going I am unsure if the words of your mouth will not come true for you.
@ Danbarua!we don hear nw!No second batch.Must u repeat it? Abi make we go buy you microphone so dat u go enter street?mschwwwwwwww.=))•´¨)
¸.•´ ¸.ℓoℓ •*¨) ¸.•*¨)
=)) ¸¸.•´=D(¸.•´(¸.• =))
Abeg i dey beg u nnpc next time make u na cal smal pple 4 interview n recruit smal so dt hatbreak no go plenty.
Danbaura, many people here are well engaged, thank God u ve gotten ur NNPC offer now either on national merit, Federal Xter or else.Pls don't leave the forum, I realy beg u, I'm telling u emphatically that another list will be called and u will say these people are saying it o.No argument , another batch, it may not be up to 1st batch, will be released.CONFIRMED.
U will see what we are saying about another batch, no matter the small may be.Did GMD tell u that? Ur post was just ur own deduction, many confirmations had been made, also today one strongest source confirmed it.just be patient and u will soon see what we are saying.Continue thanking God.
