Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
2nd batch is on the way........ Confirmed. But it takes faith and they will not be as much as the first batch and it will be after the EH had resumed in september........... May be u will be on the list with the same system some of you have tagged wuruwuru. And i hope you will refuse the letter becos of ur acclaimed wuruwuru in d process. And i hope the bitterness in some folks will die by then. Ur expectation will not be cut short.

Elawoebeda, well done. Pls keep d info coming. However it comes. This is Just d truth u ve noted!

Eyes have not seen,ears have not heard neither has it entered into the heart of men............ That's the promise of God for His called and ordained. The question is, are you His own?
My people, God should be our focus. It is well.

With due respect sir, you have to change your mind set. Someone complained that his details was put against another name does not suggest his name was swapped. The person whose name was on the list may have been the rightful person selected and may not even be aware. What if the name turned out to be yours? Will you still tell that guy his name was swapped with yours? It could have been an innocent mistake. Do not rush to conclusions. Even if you saw the list with your eyes, which you didn't, you cannot confidently confirm that names were swapped. what if the list was scaled down?

Present onboarding at the towers is a very stressful process but the HR team is trying to b as nice as they can b. Everybody introduced themselves today, many already have 2 masters degree, alot of GTs were from Zenith bank but have resigned, some from MTN, PWC and great companies, the Northern Males and Females were marvelous (the females especially), many of them already have 2 masters not just from local universities but foreign also,and from how they speak, you will notice intelligence and excellence.
I observed brilliance, zeal, change, passion and drive for excellence from about 95% of Gts in the air today. I am really lucky 2 b with this calibre of people.
417 people have shown up so far and are currently documenting. Bebrief introduced himself and discussed with several naiajhotjobbers on the way forward for NNPC and DPR. He would be briefing both forums soon.

Note that painfully but unavoidably many of the usones may not post here again, not because we dont want to, but because after this month some would be in benin, some in warri for training. In as much as we would want 2 keep up, it may be difficult.
I do however pray that they still call the others.
God bless you all

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
We must appreciate some guys people like Alanu Oluwa, ELAWOBEDA.....in 1st batch who are giving the awaiting real info, God bless u. I personaly have strong conviction in mind that another list will be called. Though my reliable source at NNPC Towers didn't tell me the date.He almost fought me when I asked him " Is there no hope again?", he said why was I saying that?Then I told him, Sir I believe, God is great. God created Heaven and Earth, so 2nd batch had been created by Him and we shall see it.We are not loosing hope .
-
Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
Going by fig from Alanu Loluwa, 47 didn't show up either in GT or OP. But we are not even concern with that bcos the list NNPC would take must have been catered for in the budget unless NNPC wants to be unfair.
-
Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
Congrats once again, pls continue the 2nd batch finding. Wishing career success.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@all,
First of all, I wish to join faith with all NNPC and DPR hopefuls still expectant of their letters to keep faith, because there is nothing impossible for God. For "is anything too hard for the Lord?..." (Gen 18:14 KJV).
Also, I wish to use this opportunity to reiterate my earlier promise that I am still in this struggle and will be willing to offer my assistance in anyway possible. However, at this point and due to popular demand, I wish to honorably hand over the entire funds so far contributed by both NNPC and DPR hopefuls to someone else, to continue in the struggle as I resume work with NNPC. At least I have tried so far. Even our efforts were well acknowledged by the HR at a remark on resumption date, 6th August.
I wish to also make known my sacrifices to this struggle, from the first two publications made to the logistics costs incurred before, during and after the Lagos peaceful protest, as well as my invaluable selfless efforts, time and talent, which I have put into this course, including the bank charges incurred on the contribution account. All these I am glad bear without charge for the victory we have so far achieved.

Therefore, I wish to ask the house to suggest a credible fellow from the DPR hopefuls who shall take custody of these funds to carry out a half page or full page advert publication on a major National daily and/or other purposes the house may agree upon, towards the actualization of this course.
I have earlier gotten suggestions to handover the funds to @debrown (a DPR hopeful). However it is still necessary that I throw it open to the house to decide, since the funds were both contributed by both NNPC and DPR hopefuls.
It is also important that whoever shall take custody of these funds takes into account the demands of NNPC hopefuls who are yet to receive their letters and also speak on their behalf for the release of the second batch appointment letters. However, if there is any NNPC hopefuls who made contributions and wishes to be refunded, he or she may request for it from the person who would receive the funds.
Meanwhile, anyone who is still interested in making contributions can do so from now till Thursday next week, 16th August, when I shall present a final account update and then transfer the funds to the agreed account. The account details remains:
A/c name: SIMSOLUTIONS LTD
A/c no: 1011746824

Thank you and God bless.

it is not an assumption. it is a confirmation of what i posted here the first time the list came out and it came from a mgt staff's mouth. please lets not dwell on this as we have to put it behind us and moved on. like someone rightly said oyibos too dey do am someone even testified to trying to do it but was transferred. please and please lets not fight over an obvious. maybe we should not have mentioned it if only to make those already called feel happy but my dear truth must be told and this does not mean that if i had seen someone willing to do it for me, i'll back off. where is wuruwuru and magomago not done. i just posted it to let people know that it is a previledge if your name is there and you didn't know anyone because it could have been your name that was swapped. i will not even go to the length of mentioning the name of the person that told me because am surprised for people to think that NNPC employment will be different from what happens in the society. please give me a break.
I can say it over and over that names were swapped. QED. please i will not go into any further argument on this issue.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
Please when is the second list coming out?
meanwhile i would advise us to use this waiting time to gather as much certifications as we can so as to put us in a good stead for any opportunity. i just lost an opportunity because i did not upgrade one of the certifications i had or would i say the job was not meant for me?
-
Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
Guy ever since I started dis NNPC wahala, I stopped gathering certifications thinking I would swtich to oil and gas. For almost 2 years running now I neither upgrade nor complete my professional track. Over confidence dey worry me......mstweeeew. I dey give myself confidence say NNPC go pick me. Well dis forum partly contributed to it. I will not take my mind and eyes off dis forum. Guys dey always yarn sumtin now! Omo u must read update now or before u check back you have alot to read and crack your rib at. People were warning us at dis forum that guys should zero their mind and move on, I refuse to listen....or alas I'm addicted to dis forum and NNPC. Well I remembered dat it was discussed on dis forum dat NNPC has provision for 500-700 candidates then guys refuted the claim. Shabi we don see as dey only employ 595. You don see am now. If I had move on then, I would have been a thorough bred professional now especially as NNPC don break my backdone.I would have gotten wider options. GUYS MOVE ON, WHAT WILL BE WILL BE. @skudi I pity you, you better move, what of if second batch is released and your name no dey among? As for me I dn't even know where to start from........well I will start from sumwhere but I'm really angry at myself because I could have judiciously spent those years advancing my career and by now I would have been a better person.Anyway my little cent........

NNPC and the FOI Act
AUGUST 9, 2012 BY EDITORIAL 1 COMMENT
REJECTING a request by the Daily Trust newspaper for information regarding its recent recruitment, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation reportedly said that, as a statutory corporation, it was not bound by the Freedom of Information Act. This is a great disservice to transparency – a theatre of the absurd playing itself out.
Ordinarily, the corporation, without any prompting, should have such information on its website. But ours is a society where truth is hard to find. The search for this truth brought about the enactment of the FOI law, which is in operation in over 70 countries, and was first enacted in Sweden in 1766 as Freedom of the Press Act. Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 10, 1948, further recognises this freedom as a fundamental human right. The value of such laws is to make it harder for governments to hide corruption or maladministration.
Relying on FOI law, the newspaper had requested the details of NNPC’s recruitment, including the number of applicants from each state, points scored by each candidate at the test and interview levels, benchmark points set by the corporation, number of candidates that qualified with their states of origin and number of the applicants eventually employed by the corporation and their states of origin. Section 2 (7) of the FOI Act 2011, which the newspaper relied on, defines public institutions (such as NNPC) as “all authorities, whether executive, legislative or judicial agencies, ministries, and extra-ministerial departments of the government, together with all corporations established by law and all companies in which government has a controlling interest, and private companies utilising public funds, providing public services or performing public functions.”
But the NNPC, somewhat bizarrely, claimed that “it is not bound by the provisions of the law as a “statutory corporation” by virtue of section 31 of the FOI Act. Section 31 defines public institution as “any legislative, executive, judicial, administrative or advisory body of the government, including boards, bureaux, committees or commissions of the state, and any subsidiary body of those bodies, including but not limited to committees and sub-committees which are supported in whole or in part by public funds or which expends public fund and private bodies providing public services, performing public functions or utilising public funds.” NNPC claims it does not fall under any of these categories.
This is curious. Who else is, if NNPC is not under the law? The government established NNPC by Decree 33 of 1977. Apart from its exploration activities, the corporation was given powers and operational interests in refining, petrochemicals and products transportation as well as marketing on behalf of the Nigerian people. It sits atop Nigeria’s average earnings of over $282 million per day from crude oil. The position of legal experts, including Femi Falana and Itse Sagay, both Senior Advocates of Nigeria, is that the NNPC’s assertion is not tenable in law. According to Sagay, the corporation is a public institution, which is 100 per cent owned by the government with no private shares. This assertion was echoed by NNPC’s Group Managing Director, Andrew Yakubu, on assumption of office. “The NNPC is the mainstay of the nation’s economy. We must reposition the corporation for better service and to support the economy. We will strive very hard to work with the Nigerian public and all the stakeholders.” He then pledged to ensure “transparency and accountability in the operations of the corporation as well as across the value chain of the oil and gas industry.”
NNPC is bound by the FOI Act. The culture of secrecy in the public sector generally is pernicious. For NNPC, whose policies and practice affect public and private sectors, it has always proved fatal. The principle behind the FOI law is that the government should be putting more, not less, material into the public domain. It is therefore inconceivable for an organisation that is “the mainstay of the nation’s economy” not to be within the FOI Act radar. In any case, public officials and institutions never really wanted the FOI law.
NNPC has once again proved that it has a lot to hide, but this is not new. Audit and legislative probe reports have consistently provided damning accounts of systemic corruption, fraud and embezzlement in NNPC. The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative declared in the first-ever comprehensive report on Nigeria’s petroleum industry that it uncovered operational lapses as well as structural dislocations that had been extensively exploited by unscrupulous functionaries, Joint Venture Partners and other shady characters in society. Other reports, including several by the National Assembly, depict NNPC as a clandestine organisation that carries on the way it wishes with public funds.
Nigerians should begin to test the efficacy of the FOI law as citizens of other countries do. Experiences in some other countries where the FOI law is in operation indicate that such freedom is never given on a silver platter. Such issues as exemptions, poor awareness, delay tactics, mute refusal, routine denial of access to information and interpretation of what constitutes public interest still pose problems with the implementation of the law.
If the NNPC must purge itself of perfidy, including sundry allegations of operating illegal foreign accounts and other corrupt tendencies, it must make its operations as open as possible. Public bodies hold information for the benefit of the members of the public and unless there is an overriding public interest as reason for denying access, individuals and organisations should be able to access such information. That is the new trend in the world today. Without it, our democracy will remain stunted.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
NNPC , if it has nothing to hide from the public being a govt.'s institution,should make the recruitment info available to the press but I think it will do that when all candidates have been called. New GMD had promised tranparency, so what next why NNPC is saying that it was not bound by FoI. I disagree withh NNPC on that.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
Transparency is a mere lip service. They don't practice what they preach except ur carry arm against them or you do something that will cut oil revenue to their pocket. Na Wayo govt. we they na.

IT IS REALLY FOOD FOR THOUGHT
In 1979, Bamanga Tukur was the Governor of the defunct Gongola State (now Adamawa & Taraba) and 33 years after he is still the Chairman of the ruling Party, The PDP.
Dr. Bello Halliru was commissioner in the Old Sokoto State (now Sokoto, Kebbi & Zamfara) and 33 years after he is still d Minister of Defence;
Major General David Mark (rtd) was the military governor of Niger State in 1984 and 28 years after he is still the Senate President;
Gov. Murtala Nyako was the governor of Niger State in 1976 and 36 years after he is still the Governor of Adamawa State;
Ogbonnaya Onu was governor of Abia State in 1992 and 20 years after he is still the National Chairman of ANPP;
Gov. David Jonah Jang was the governor of Benue State in 1985 and 27 years after he is still the governor of plateau state;
And Martins Elechi the Ebonyi State Governor is over 80 years old! Only in Nigeria is this possible
1985, IBB was the president of Nigeria and our teachers told us that Buhari was the former Head of state as at then..
Our teachers also called us the leaders of tomorrow.. 27 years later, IBB and Buhari are still contesting for President.
It's either our teacher lied to us about being the leaders of tomorrow..Or tomorrow is yet to come. What do you think?

Our teachers also called us the leaders of tomorrow.. 27 years later, IBB and Buhari are still contesting for President.
It's either our teacher lied to us about being the leaders of tomorrow..Or tomorrow is yet to come. What do you think?

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
How are we sure that this recruitment is going on 100% merit bcos u talked of GTs or OPs with two masters from abroad and this was someone said that any whenever there are recruitments in juicy govt. MDAs such as CBN, NNPC and co, our big wigs invite their sons & daughters from abroad for the vacancies. I don't think those people Alanu Loluwa was describing are children of average Nigerians except on scholarships.I just dey think of some things.But God is there.

I observed brilliance, zeal, change, passion and drive for excellence from about 95% of GTs + OPs in the air today. I am really lucky 2 b with this calibre of people.
417 people have shown up so far and are currently documenting. Bebrief introduced himself and discussed with several naiajhotjobbers on the way forward for NNPC and DPR. He would be briefing both forums soon.
God bless you all
