It was clearly stated on their website.I have heard of a guy that went for an interview to get a job in an Oilserv. company and when he came before the panel,a lady commented on his tie by sayin:'i like ur tie' and they all started talking about ties-designers,colours to match, etc. That was his own interview.Since this annual scholarship started,NDDC had always prefered the interview channel. This year's test was just to get a particular set of candidates solely for the interview. In other words, the interview's still d 'koko'.Whether u scored a 70% or 100%,an 'A' is still an 'A' anywhere.I think they asked those questions cos they thought ur course isn't that relevant or you looked frightened or they just have no clue about ur course(too bad).U have no case if u take that as d chief point in dis fight.
did nddc state criteria for interview on her website. ok ooo, at least I have witnessed chevron interview, they never ask for this king of question"what did you eat yesterday, but IQ standard question, such as describe a scenario where you work under deadline pressure, Give me a specific occasion in which you conformed to a policy with which you did not agree and so on, mere saying can I meet you is enough to show your composure instead of ask for rice and beans,
Anyhow prayer is the master key to open all doors
@Manenuff, I see u've adjudged exactly wat I tot d director ment wit dat statement, our case shuld be on names dat were never interviewed or examined. Not on d exam score. (I still stand to be corrected)
This leaves me wondering where the 40% Interview and 60% aptitude test score rule came from.
we may decieve others but we can't decieve our conscience n the almighty God.Only God who sees in secret will judge all their actions someday, somewhere n somehow.for scholars who where truly product of God's favour may God continually increase His grace on them...I rest my case.
guys what is the latest on the protest at ph.when are they posting the names of successfull candidates on their website
you guys are talking about publishing the list and that it should contain names of candidate that were shortlisted for the interview, do you ever ask if all that that were shortlisted for interview ever applied or wrote the test let alone to come for interview, criminals are very calculative, the dy/dx and permutation and combination of your points (main the main) today has been included in the variables. it is possible some candidate didnt applied and they were shortlisted for interview so is that not foul play, as matter of what ever be the output of the list, there is nothing anybody can do, In Nigeria nobody fights government and win, else the worst will happen - death, why crying over split milk, how many illgotten situations have been revealed in Nigeria, how many have received validation of mr free and fair justice?
however selected or not selected, " you were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win" Zig Ziglar
The way you guys are buggin' NDDC to publish diz list ehh. Dont yhu think they have the power not to publish the list again. Js sayin'
ok ooh, hen, hm, "the best change is not to change things around us, but to change ourselves", enochdejesus, "do it right you will get the right result"- enochdejesus,
poverty and hardship was around Ben Carson, and he was also a dullard, he never change hardship but he change himself, he became one of the American renown neurosurgeon
even during d test so many ppl had access to d bank of questions b4 hand, I was an eyewitness. bcos how does a person score 50 or even close to 50 when u have 30min to answer 60Qs and most questions need a minute or more to comprehend at all. And now they act as if they r so more intelligent than every1 else.
We're not here 2write books o.Wen u defend ur cause people will write abt u even if u die trying.e.g Martin Luther King.'The essence of life is to seek a noble cause to die for'-Manenuff.
I think d delay in making d names public's nothing other than trying to 'reconcile' the already adulterated list.If not, what else? Like som1 sed lately: NDDC's keepin up with dis forum like we do their site.I believe that.So let's dig up more viable evidence.
Halleluyahhhh? God give us miracle like the days of G finney, J Wesley, lincoln, king jr, alexander Dowie, and like the day of JESUS CHRIST. and all names here saved and make the list including meeee oooo Amen
Guys, let's reason together seriously. This is a scholarship selection process, don't you think it should be different from job interview where you will be accessed how you would do your job in a working environment. The scholarship selection process should truely be academic.
PTDF knows this that is why if you pass their test, you are a scholar. There is no point stressing candidates to an interview where they asked inconsequential questions meanwhile the candidate is going for something academic. The only addition might be a basic test on your course like PTDF and that's it. They could still use negative marking and other academic selection process.
We all went to school and know that some students are good in theory than practical while others are going in written than speaking. So for one to conclude that in an academic process of selection it is better to choose a scholar because he impressed the interview panel because he was only asked his intended course of study is not right. What we are going for is 80% written and 20% spoken (dissertation, thesis and seminars).
They should have raised the cut off mark because it is not easy to answer 60 questions in 30 mins.(where you spend at least a min in some questions), you need both speed and accuracy.
They had already planned to hijack the process.
NDDC is not a cabal. It was instituted to manage development of the Niger Delta. The funds that are used for its operation does not belong to it but to us,the Niger Delta people who have suffered so much marginalization from the Nigerian Government and as such the commission is accountable to the people.
If at any point, the activities of the NDDC is not in line with its inaugurated objectives,it is our responsibility to call the commission to order in our interest and the interests of our children.
Niger Deltans have been known to fight fiercely for their rights. We represent the elite of the Niger Delta and our demands are legitimate.
Our message is simple.Let justice be done.Publish the List.We may not be able to question the list because there are too many loop holes for the NDDC to justify its decision based on the 2nd interview.
However I am quite certain that there might be people who did not attend 1st or 2nd interview that were given the award?Otherwise,
why the low publicity?
Why did it take so long to release a final list of just 200?
Was a third interview conducted which we are not aware of?
One thing is for sure, we cannot continue to live like this.We cannot continue to be taken for granted and we will fight for our right.
Everyday,we are being denied opportunities that we deserve because of the greed of Leaders we elected.People who steal our money everyday and are not satisfied but want to make sure that even the smallest opportunity that is meant for the masses is diverted.
Any commissioner, governor, chairman or politician who got involved in the selection process has a case to answer.
If we act, these are the likely possibilities
(1)The List will be published and names of those who did not merit the award or attend the interview will be removed giving opportunity to those who deserve it.
(2)The NDDC will simply do nothing and the case is swept under the carpet. However, the commission would have dented its image and the public will always refer to its scholarship scheme as proof of its corrupt nature.
If we decide to do nothing
(1)Corruption will continue and our sons and daughters will suffer what we experience today because we decided to do nothing.Last year it happened and it has happened again.
Those who say 'let sleeping dogs lie" Let us not be selfish. We achieved independence because of some few people who fought for us and stood their grounds. We still celebrate them today.
The battle is for the brave.
@cacking & wiseguy~: you guys were always telling us the list will be uploaded tomorrow until someone first confirmed that she got her letter last week. Since you guys are so closed to the commission to have given us those updates, i believe you guys should be well informed by the commission so as to notify us when the list will be uploaded and why it has not been uploaded and only text sent. Please don't attack me o, I’m just a curious follower of events.
I knew they'll be trouble immediately the interview list came out (about 1200 of which only 200 are to be selected); translating to one-in-six success. No matter how transparent the process is, people would still be complaining. They should have pruned down the list to say 400. I know some politician would stoop low to request for their preferred candidate to be awarded. Take heart, their end will be sorrowful.
I’m doing my protest tomorrow not for them to change the list but for my voice to be heard; at least so that next year will be better.
Please can anyone who took part in the first protest tell us the outcome.I understand that it was a successful move and the MD promised to publish the list by tomorrow, thursday.Pictures will be appreciated. You can send me a PM.Thanks.
@cackin,the interview is the determinant factor in producin scholars like francisca(d students' union president)and dat's wat dey want-ppl dat wil always defend d interest of d 9ja delta, not only in 'bukuru'.nddc will always produce better scholars than ptdf.concernin d academics(writing of tests, essays, etc),don't u think d job had been done by our various universities whr we schooled? dey don't much bliv in ur grade but in ur ability.btw,if any1 can't face d panel how cn d person cope abroad? our concern shld b dat things should b done according to how Paul stated it-'decently and in order'.datz y we're fighting.
@donchek. Motion supportd. We ve to do somtin
@Manenuff, who told you that NDDC has produced better scholars than PTDF, i actually didn't want to comment again because i can see we aren't moving in one direction probably some individuals have benefited from this lapses. I have had couple of friends who are beneficiaries of PTDF and they have always distinguished themselves in their respective fields and endeavors; the case of FRANSICA is one in a million, come to think of it that can't be use as yardstick for judgement. In my university days people in student union government weren't the best of students, a former NANS president late Moses Oisakede from EDO STATE UNIVERSITY now AAU spent more than 10yrs in school changing from one course to another. Why do you think that Schools in the United State would ask you to take GRE, GMAT & TOEFL for prospective postgraduate students sicking for admission? is to test for your Intelligent Quotients (IQ) and not Emotional Quotients (EQ) because the later which is synonymous to interviewing can be very subjective. Now, how would you relate this case, there is this man who has a very high intelligent quotients but unfortunately he stutters and another man who his intelligent quotients is very low but an orator, do you mean that the man with high intelligent quotients will be deprived because he has an impediment in talking fluently? My dear, anything academic should be purely base on academics which to a very large extent portray how sound you are and not interviewing that is very subjective and can be manipulated. Have been in an interview panel before?....don't worry one day you will be there and see how subjective it is.
Note i am not a prospective scholar though my wife is, but i read every thread concerning this NDDC scholarship saga and i want to see how it ends! Thank you.
Please what is the latest news? When is the list coming out now?
@Ideelove....nice logic. I think PTDF will produced better scholars, cos their financial benefits is far better than NDDC. I study better when I have much cash. Lol...
@ideelove u r on point.who has not faced a job interview would think he is the best in his field until he meets his better colleague.i still believe the interview was a show-off of transparency.like ptdf once you make the cut-off mark u are good to go although there is still corruption in the selection process but at least very intelligent pple are given a fair chance.well i am still waiting for the list to draw out my inference and next line of action because i want to secure the future of my unborn children.i have been brought up in the path of excellence and everything i have achieved today has been out of hard-work and excellence.lets not loose focus on our initial goal of exposing any corrupt act observed in the process.like i said earlier i am willing to assist in this good course from where-ever i am especially from my laptop via social media. trust me u might not know peoples strength yet until the ball is set rolling. well oga ideelove hope ur wife didnt capture u during nysc as i might be in your shoes now ooo.lol!!!! (on a lighter mode).i am an edo guy and i did my nysc in Akwa-ibom (Eket).Floreat!!!!!
Hey ppl....its been pretty quiet here oh plus there is no news of the list yet oh, hope Mr MD didn't just say its coming out today so the protest will end....anyways today hasn't ended yet sha so lets keep our fingers crossed
Have they contacted anyone else since monday?
Y are u guys attacking me?
Pls,i'm not d one causing d probs, but just looking from a neutral perspective.
@Ideelove,NDDC has already conducted its own (IQ) test like PTDF and determined that those who scored 26 and above have d acceptable IQ and are academically competent enough to go for the scholarship. However, they didn't stop there, but went ahead to conduct an interview. An interview isn't a bad idea either. From ur illustration,if a scholar with a supposedly 'low' IQ passes d test and goes ahead to become an orator at d interview panel, isn't he better than d person with a 'high' IQ but with a low and poor communicative ability?
Tell me. A truly educated man is one who can communicate? What if he's asked to lecture 9ja delta youths 2mwr,won't he still fumble and stutter? The problem with 9ja graduates is that we want to b d best academically, but unable to do d 'stuff'.Remember,we av 2b worthy in 'learning' and 'character'.
And who eva told u PTDF is better off?
Will PTDF b transparent enough to publish names and scores?
The corruption is everywhere.
The flaws we can identify dis year is incompetent hands in d interview panel, politicking, nepotism and so on.Apart from those,NDDC's method of selection is better than PTDF's.Moreover,we're nt here 2fight ourselves bt 2 fight d corruption identified.
There is no doubt a lot of our govt agencies r corrupt, but this year nddc said it will be transperent and a lot of us believed them, we need to show them that we know what they r doing n tell them we don't want such further on cos they r playing with pples future just for selfish reasons
Plz Plz Plz.... I knw there are some NDDC officials/spies hangin' over here. Actually i have wasted like 6mnt waitin'4 this course, negletin' everythin' that comes my way, and it's not good4 me. I'm beggin' the spies again to open up this thread and tel us what to expect, tel us they hav finish contactin pple, tel us they are makin plans to contact moe pple, tel us the list wil neva kom out again, tel us we are wastin our time here we shd js go on wit our lives, tel us what the MD and Management hav aggred concernin this, tel us the possible outcome. PLZ PLZ PLZ TEL US SMT N IT WIL BE GOOD4 US. I'm beggin u in the name of God. Thank yhu.
All I know is that there is action which must be fairly followed with consequences.
@All, shey na like dis we go dey de?
The era which i almost had high BP cos of NDDC had gone. But d more i keep contacting any NDDC staff, they more they raise my hope with the saying, 'we have not finished contacting'. Presently i only lie on d bed with my fone or laptop either in NDDC site or this forum. Please beg them 2 publish any list so dat i move ahead
