Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Last year, interviews were conducted from 14th sep 2010 -16th and the result came out Oct 28.
Eventualy virtualy all UK scholars had to defer till this year, meaning both last year and dis year UK scholars will be resuming together.
NDDC is determined this will not happen dis year as d result will be out on time.
Wot matters is for u to believe ur name will be on d list.
One thing I can assure u is there will be people on merit, as I personaly kn such people who got it on merit.
U guys shd be patient and get other necessary thing ready.

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
You know people who got it based on merit? How? When interviews where for some, 3 minutes to 1 minute long. That is no more equal opportunity so there cannot be merit because there doesnt seem to be a definite baseline/criteria to what they were looking for in interviewees. Lets keep praying we get there by God's grace( for those of us who don't have long legs)
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
As per wot they were looking for.
Last year d director informed us that they considered people who were going for unique courses that are very relevant to the development of the region. A good example is an individual who ws going on a course for welding engineering,he also happen to ber d only one in dat case.
This means there were no competetors. Such an individaul has a better chance of being considered. In d end it is still God's favour that matters.
So just cheer up.if it is yours it is yours.
Just to add it ws also said last year by d director that there were a lot of peeps going for petroleum Egnr but they wanted to sponsor courses allround which cover diverse fields.so few pet engr guys got called.

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Thanks 4 d insight let's hope d list would be out next week so all our hearts can be @ peace
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Then for it to be open and equal opportunity these criteria should be stated early enough, rather than have people apply for courses like PET eng and travel all the way out to be interviewed only for them to be unjustly denied scholarship. It can as well be renamed NDDC Post Graduate Scholarship Lottery/LuckyDip Program 2011. SMH *heavily* p.s: Some people depend wholly on this scholarship program oh and yet it has a wrongly defined baseline criteria......
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
I don't know y some people are already writing themselves off when d list isn't out yet! Please be positive!

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
I think that the delay with the list is because of the probe currently going on in nddc with d md ova 100billion naira,bt I spoke to a reliable source and she said that the committee investigating is supposed to submit their report this week,so letz hope that before the end of this week or early next week, the list will be out.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Lord please help this nation!

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Is it a coincidence that the nddc.gov.ng website is also down at this crucial moment we are anxiously waiting for this list or is there something else to explain all these?

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
See you guys, I am off to the Nordics in a couple of days. As stated earlier, I shall return to claim my award if I am shortlisted. You will agree with me that it is not worthwhile waiting for this uncertainty when I've got something certain in front of me. May God help us all. I shall keep in touch.
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
bryandavid....just curious, if u are successful, how do you intend to claim your award. Cos i'm aware NDDC pays directly to schools.
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
My admission at a UK university is still available hence I said I was going to return if I am awarded the NDDC scholarship.

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
I am gone. I hope to return back to this country to change the way we do things. It's not going to be business as usual when I return.

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
I'm still keeping faith (Patiently Waiting)...
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Guys, I suggest we start working towards deferring our individual admissions in the UK till next year cos I dont see the possibility of getting a visa and making travelling arrangements in the limited time we have. What do you think?

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
So,the probe panel has left NDDc to abj submit dere report, the Director is waiting for the MD to get a cut-off frm d interview nd shortlist and den publish,I heard dat d total amt of pple dat made it is abt 280 and dey'll have to cut dwn to abt 150. To make room for d xtra candidates frm political offices,
Probably before the end of ds month everything will be concluded.
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
When will Nigeria ever be transparent? So what happens to people like us that do not have links with political heavy weights? I put my hope in the almighty.
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Thers is still hope! Thanks BossLady. At least we now know that the panel that was delaying the list have gone back to their base
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Yeah, thanks bosslady. I guess it will take them another 2 weeks to panel beat the list before its final release. That means we should be expecting the list by the end of the month.
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
I don't think it will take that long, it should be out by next week. Remember it was due to be released shortly b4 d panel showed up.

Do you mean the total number of people shorlisted would be 150 excluding those with connection?

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
…GOD alone has the final say…
My Co-Scholars,
As a prelude to NDDC, publishing the list of Successful Candidates for NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship 2011 [breaking News]. I have developed 6 key indicators to give you insight into the selection process.
I. Uniqueness of your course. Those who applied for rare courses like Biomedical or nuclear engineering have higher chances than those that applied for common courses like petroleum or mechanical engineering.
2. Proximity of course to NDDC'S mandates. The more closely aligned your course is to NDDC’S mandate for the Niger Delta as highlighted in NDDC’s vision and mission statement the higher your chances.
3. Popularity of your University. Different schools are synonymous with particular courses .e.g. Robert Gordon is synonymous with Oil and Gas Engineering, Harvard is synonymous with MBA and Harriot Watts is synonymous with Petroleum Engineering. If the University you chose is renowned for your course then your chances are higher.
4. Applicant’s proposal. The proposal was requested to ascertain applicant’s passion, depth of knowledge and return on Investment (ROI) on your course .i.e. practical relevance (impact) of your course to addressing the peculiar challenges of the Niger Delta region. Candidates that their proposals explicitly captured these above variables have higher chances.
5. Your personality (countenance). The interview panel had limited time to access you so they spotted distinctive individuals such people have higher chances.
6. Lastly, I have GOOD NEWS for you. Candidates whose profiles didn’t match any of the key indicators mentioned above but have implicit faith in “GOD”, your names are already on the list so start singing, dancing and celebrating…because it is written…
For with GOD nothing is impossible…Luke 1:37…
the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill but time and chance happeneth to them all...Ecclesiastes 9:11...
If the race was to the swift Jonathan would never be President…
If the race was to the swift the most intelligent people will be the richest…
GOD did it for me, HE can and has done it for you because…The LORD changeth not…Malachi 3:3a
...Just believe...
…Shalom…

Amen!! I totally concur with your indicators...except the first one - 'The uniqueness of the course'.
If NDDC's *Mandate* is to produce competent technocrats for the burgeoning energy industry (Which the thick-bellied man said on the day of my interview), why do you reckon they'll prefer prospective nuclear engineers to petroleum engineers?!?!
In the context of your *6 Strategic Tips* :D , does 'uniqueness' mean 'relevance'?

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
@Prince et al! I almost wept as I read your post, reason being that I followed all your comments relegiously from last's year NDDC postgraduate scholarship scheme 2010. And I saw and felt FAITH filled WORDS from you, and you got it! I want to first thank u for honoring us with your presence. I tap into your annoiting! God bless u more and more

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Funny enough, NDDC website ain't opening since last week. What's really going on?
-
Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
Guys...if you are shortlisted, it can take about 7 working days to get your Visa after applying with your CAS and NDDC letters because your names will be sent to the embassy for assistance and ease of Visa processing.
Keep your CAS statements handy, keep your N70k handy for your visa fee, fill the UKBA forms in readiness, and once your name appears and you get your letter, head to Lagos or Abuja within the required time and get a Visa, as long as your resumption is within the time limit between award letter and resumption time.
The only problem could be NNPC's delay in paying the tuition fees within the time limits by the school which is why most people last year had to pay with their cash and get reimbursed (a special arrangement between candidate and school).
Hope isnt lost...just pray to have your name on that list.
God bless!

Re: NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011
"O taste and see that the LORD is good"...Psalm 34:8...
My Co-Scholars,
@Misslavee...AMEN to your kind prayers...
All thanks be alone to the MOST HIGH GOD...The sustainer of Life
May GOD do “exceeding abundantly above” all that you ask or think in JESUS name...AMEN
@Bomaisthefuture...the 5 indicators above were developed based on a critical analysis of last year's list, the educational inclination of those involved in the selection process, Nigeria's technological and capacity gap and my understanding [foresight, insight and hindsight] of the intricacies and nitty gritty of the commissions workings.
For the 1st indicator, I meant NDDC's central mandate which is to “facilitate an even, rapid and sustainable development of the Niger Delta Region” and that’s why I used the word alignment not relevance. Relevance comes up and is used in qualifying the 4th indicator.
@all Scholar’s….the 6th indicator is a real life testimony to the Immutability and efficacy of GOD’s word.
…“The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple”…Psalms 19:7b…
Just believe
Shalom
