The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (or the National Institute), Kuru, near Jos, Plateau State was conceived as a high-level centre institution with the primary objectives of serving as the nation’s foremost policy�, developing a crop of top-class technocrats of high intellectual capacity, who will conceptualize and anchor the implementation of innovative and dynamic policy initiatives and strategies critical for national development. Established by Decree No. 20 of 1979 (now known as Act 20 CAP 626 of 1990), the National Institute is a Federal parastatal in the Presidency, in view of the importance attached to its functions.
