What kind of questions do Mobil ask for interview? An interview comes up tomorrow and I'm totally unprepared... Please house, help a friend in need.
Thanks.
Its the usual competemcy questions. Im not a pro but just be urself. They really want to know more about you thru these questions. How u handle urself in different circumstances and ur approach to life n problem solving etc. There r no right or wrong answers (well, maybe there r obvious wrong answers ;D) but just be confident n honest. Make eye contact, sit up straight, dont slouch, umm.........yeah, pray before u go in and let God take control of the rest. Hope this helps.
What position are you goin in for and is it a trainee or experienced one?
@Tall Chic...Impish has said it all
Is this your first stage? if yes, you may likely be given, the in-tray exercise (a hypothetical exercise to test your priorities in decision making...again, no right or wrong answers, defend all your decisions with tangible reasons and thought processes)Quote:

@all. thanks for d contr.
@Tripple C Can u shade more light on the hypothetical exercise?
@Msoft, when did You write the test please?
The in-tray exercise is a hypothetical one...19 mails in your in-tray(in-box) on a normal working day at the office, each mail addressing a different area of work, some of the mails inter-connected etc, this is just to check how you would prioritize your action items, you have one hour to work through the mails and action them out...again, no right or wrong answers, defend all your decisions with tangible reasons and thought processes
ITA with Tripple-C.
@tripple-c - yeah, was just going to ask the same question. I dont recall mobil advertising recently but who knows? ???
@Impish, I also don't remember Mobil advertising for Trainee Engineering recently, I don't know if it was the same test we did last year...who knows????? ??? ??? ???
Yeah, its quite strange. Anyway, I heard from the guy from mobil who sent us the mails recently n he said that we'd b contacted last week or this week. Today is wednesday so Im still hoping sha. But it keeps getting stranger every second *sigh*
I interviewed with MOBIL on the 4th of June for the position of a Trainee geoscientist. It's nolonger the In-tray exercise. It's all about getting to know you stuff and technical question from your field/discipline/area of specialisation. while you answer questions from the technical aspect, more questions emerge from what you say.Mind you there's is an expert in your field and dont elaborate on what you are not sure of. On the issue of getting to know you stuff, prepare for questions like ; Your best/worst course in school; why you studied the course you read; greatest achievements and greatest challenge you ever had; short/long term goal;why you want to work for MOBIL and stuffs like that. Above all, you have to exude confidence and let poise be your watchword!
I wish you well
I'm hapy 4 u guys, wishin nu all d very best of luck...
@Georgejob...wish you the very best
@ALL Invitees...go with God, mercy has gone ahead of you, and remember that in mercy you find favour and grace...
@Okoriko...many 10x man!
@Impish...no letting go, no giving up, God who has taken us this far is faithful to complete His work in our lives

Just as Georgejob rightly said, it was an interactive oral interview based on what he listed above and also a logical question followed...
I only hope and pray for the best...
@msoft: How was the interview?
@ house, the interview went on fine they were keen about knowing one's personality.
Georgejob got it right.
Wish everyone the best
@msoft, Tallchic GerogeJob et al; good to hear it all went well, I wish U guys the very best and I pray U don't have to wait as long as those of us who did the trainee engrg test and interviews...it's not funny at all to have to wait this long, I pray you guys start real quick and remember God alone can bring it to pass, don't keep Him out of the process, let God take centre stage
...oya; gbadura..., ekpere..., prayers...
@GeorgeJob; thanks for your info, it was super relevant to all invited...you are the man!
@Georgrjob: Please, when did you write the test of which interview you did?
@adembamidele, I wrote my test on the 15th of May 2010.
@tall chic, don't worry behind all the jargons they will pick the important things u mustve said. I did my interview early this year and trust me I too thought I talked jargons but passed that stage and thru d last stage.
@impish, abeg this ur source, does he know what is holding all the recruitment cos those of us that are participating in the recruitment process for IT analyst since last year havnt really gotten any information, except an email we got two weeks ago about them being sorry for d delay and will get back to us for final feedback. And its two weeks since then..hmmpph.God is with us all.
@georgejob when was the test u wrote advertised for. Never saw it online.werr the ppl dat wrote it a good number
hmmm.....its not a source like that oh, i just called the no in the last email they sent us which was in april >:( :P n i spoke with him (tosin). Evidently, its the same email u got two weeks ago that we got in april. Wen I called Tosin 2 weeks ago, he just apologised n said that latest by last week we wud get our final feedback but nothing yet.
We wrote our test in april or may last year so its been well over a year now. Im guessing a few more weeks wont rly make a difference ::) ::) ::)
God must just remain with us all oh ;D ;D as guys don dey tire small small
pls kindly clarify if the interview u went for is sequel to ur participation in geoscientist test or trainee engineer test??? ??? ??? and when you wrote the testQuote:

Tall Chic and others.
Good luck. I wish u all the best. It will all turn out 4 the best. Cheers.
@navy_sephiroth, the position was advertised on the national dailies(The Guardian) on the 13th of April, 2010.
best of wishes
@ navy_sephiroth,
How soon were u called and told that u passed the interview??? Was it immediately, the following day or after a week?
@ House,
How many series of interview does one have to pass through before getting a job with Mobil??? How also do they get to notify successful applicants?
@ navy_sephiroth,
Still expecting an answer from you...

I meant the successful applicants who passed the first stage of the interview...How are they contacted?
I believe each recruitment process is unique and influenced by such factors as urgency of the recruiting manger(the mgr in whose department there is an opening), the number of openings, the number of people to be interviewed and the performance of those interviewed, etc...Quote:

WRT; how MPN contacts you when you have succeeded at any of the stages, they will always send you a mail to this effect, remember to also check your spam(you never can tell what your spam setting is...though you can change the spam setting). In a case you have an interview, they will also call or send a text msg in addition to the mail.
Please those with different entry routes and experiences should be share, like I said, each recruitment exercise is unique.
I hope this info is useful...
hi guys, i must commend the professional manner in which members have handled this discussions, i've been to forums where our so-called graduates can't express themselves, not to talk of facing an interview board, but from what i've seen here, i believe our country is blessed with individuals who know their onions and can defend it anywhere, tripple c, george and the rest of the crew, kudos to you all and for the interview guy, we go meet for the top (lol). one luv all.
@tall chic, sorry I haven't replied in a long while. Work at my office is most hectic. Straight to the point:
First thing is evrything tripple C says is down to the book. Naturally if u were inquisitive during your interview you would have been told when you will most likely hear from them. It usually depend on the amount of interviewees.. Start looking out from a week , two weeks max. Then as was done during my time and as I believe is d norm there should be two stages, the last being with the GM of your hiring dept and the HR lead.. Just be very confident by then..
Good luck to you and all of us that hope for employment.
Tripple C abeg send me your fone no. Or blackberry PIN make we yarn..lol..we dey the same ship..was wondering if you have filled the some critical forms like that...
Ah! @navy and tripple-c, I think I have info for u both. Called Tosin yesterday and he said that his supervisor had made her final decision and that this wud be conveyed to us same yesterday (which Im guessing hasnt happened) or b4 the end of next week. hmm.............the wait continues
***coughs*** I think my heart just skipped a beat..impish dis info is critical oh.please send ur contact make we yarn as well, have a few questions...dis final decision I wonder if its from HR or the hiring dept. God has our backs, impish , tripple C we will all meet oursewlves there finally..

...Mine skipped two beats, wow!!!, very excellent news,
@Impish, thanks 4 constantly "pinging" the MPN HR, the info is very crucial just like navy_sephiroth has said, could you guys also send your contacts( I am sending mine immediately to you 2), at this level networking and collabo makes the journey shorter 4 all of us.
See U guys at the top...that is where you truly belong
My email is [email protected]

I didn't know u are already working.
They will definitely contact you, be positive. I felt the same way too. Make sure u check ur spam folder and most importantly keep in touch with ur mates that were part of the interview...yer I'm working.served with chevron and they kept me on for some service contract. Buh u knw wat the real deal is..MPN..mobil producing.not some service contract job. We are grateful for all we have though. Just be positive and call ur mates oh.
@ navy:
Thanks for the advice. But the thing is, I didn't get to meet the others when I went for my interview. It was conducted on a one-on-one basis...And that's where the problem is...
What's the contract job like in Chevron? Is it stressful or is the pay is not so fantastic- I mean as a contract staff?
